Hello,

I derive citizenship through my naturalized mother. On 11/12, my home was burglarized and the safe in which I kept all of my important documents, including my passport, was stolen. It also held the official notarized translation of my foreign birth certificate that was returned to me when my original passport was issued nearly 2 years ago.

I used an online translation service and was able to print out another copy of the signed translation. However, it IS a copy. Will this present a problem? I just applied for a new passport 30 minutes ago. Should I contact this translation service so they send me a new notarized copy pronto, or will I be okay?

All other documents presented were originals. Thank goodness I was not so dumb as to keep multiple copies of my birth certificate in one safe.

Life pro tip: If a burglar can pick up your safe and walk away with it, it is not a safe. It's just a heavy box.
