What are the chances that the husband is so upset about the workplace that the wife is also crazy enough to go along with him to shoot up the holiday party, leaving a 6 month old baby behind?

Remember Bonnie and Clyde?

Or something more recent:

it isn't an admission of guilt on part of the religion if religion was their motive. if this was just the guy, and he had ran out to his car and grabbed a weapon and came back and killed then yeah. i could see this being simple workplace violence. but with the wife being in on it, the bombs, the tactical gear? no. i can't buy that.

One person who spoke with [Dear] extensively about his religious views said Mr. Dear, who is 57, had praised people who attacked abortion providers, saying they were doing “God’s work.” In 2009, said the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity out of concerns for the privacy of the family, Mr. Dear described as “heroes” members of the Army of God, a loosely organized group of anti-abortion extremists that has claimed responsibility for a number of killings and bombings.

The Times reporter also interviewed a close relative of Dear’s Colorado girlfriend Stephanie Bragg, who said the couple were “very religious, read the Bible often and are always talking about scripture.” The two reportedly lived in a trailer marked with a small cross, and that Bragg couldn’t believe Dear was “capable of such things.”

Another report from the Charleston Post and Courier claimed that Dear was obsessed with an interpretation of the Christian apocalypse, and used dark, bizarre theology to justify disturbing acts of domestic violence against his ex wife.

Mr. Dear described as “heroes” members of the Army of God, a loosely organized group of anti-abortion extremists.

“He claims to be a Christian and is extremely evangelistic, but does not follow the Bible in his actions,” Mescher, Dear’s ex-wife, reportedly stated in an affidavit when she filed for divorce. “He says that as long as he believes he will be saved, he can do whatever he pleases. He is obsessed with the world coming to an end.”

A talk radio show I listen to interviewed some professor who is an expert on terrorism. I can't quote him but he said you can usually predict what type of terrorist you're looking at just by looking at the target.

1. If they've attacked a gov't building....right wing terrorist

2. If they've attacked a business...left wing terrorist

3. If they've attacked an abortion center....Christian terrorist

4. If they've attacked a random crowded location....Muslim terrorist

While this is a pretty large generalization, it's also pretty accurate if you consider what the goal is for each group. I can't really believe there was any doubt that a guy who attacks a planned parenthood location would be Christian.

Why are Muslims the only people in this country that HAVE to be terrorists? If these two were mentally unstable, does that make a difference? Because Dear was CLEARLY missing a few screws but there's been no demand to call him a Christian terrorist?

My point exactly. Maybe this was a fed up worker who decided to take it too far.

In a country where the majority of religious people are Christian and white, you will be hard pressed to find anyone willing to point out a "white Christian terrorist". They don't want to believe they exist.

They attacked a government building, so by that wouldn't it fall under right wing terrorism?

And it's not too hard to see that people refuse to call it Christian terrorism. This is a Christian nation.

Didn't say it was, was the PP shooting an act of terrorism or workplace violence?

Its all about motive. If someone commits a terrorist act because of their Christian faith, its a Christian terrorist act. If they are Christian and commit a terrorist act because they're anti government or something, they're an anti-government terrorist.

Motive is how you address crime. We need to stop acting like it doesn't matter.

Why did they do it? That's what classifies it. Its as simple as that.

IMO, an important part of terrorism is motive. Which is what my post was explaining. The motive is the reason for the target. That's why this is such an odd event. It doesn't seem like a location that would really anger a right wing extremist like an IRS office.

Since the guy worked there, you might consider it random workplace violence; but, the fact that he left to get his wife is beyond strange if that's going to be the explanation - like his wife is also really angry at his office. Plus, if they did indeed have pipe bombs, then this was clearly not an angry impulse.

It might be Muslim terrorism; but I don't think it is really related to ISIS. Didn't they say something praising the three gunmen? And now we find out is was only two. My guess is they were just trying to steal credit for it when they actually had no part.
