What you call a machine gun and what I may call a 'machine gun' is different. When I refer to a machine gun I refer to a military type weapon such as an AR15 or assault rifle with high capacity magazines and extra clips. But it makes little difference to me.

We also have those types around here I'd define as probably KKKers that hoard all sorts of things for whatever reason, I don't care to think about either.

Here's an interesting guy that was arrested this week. That's a nice stash of bullets he had there...

A machine gun is a machine gun, an AR 15 is not for example a machine gun. Words have meanings.

Assault Rifle is something else again, google is our friend.

Not sure how you hope to participate in a discussion on such a topic, like joining a car forum and not knowing the difference between a car and a truck.

Thought you would say that Boiler. ;) Don't be concerned about how I 'hope to participate' on the subject, it's not a problem to me.

Thanks for the descriptive images Sousuke. I believe there is one whacky individual I've seen that may have something heavy like that. Looks slightly different, maybe modified in some way, but it's not as if I'd like to get close enough. They'd probably just term themselves as a ''collector''.

to me, an "assault rifle" is a selective fire (semi auto, 3 round burst, full auto) that is used by a nation's military.

a semi auto that cosmetically looks like an assault rifle still isn't an assault rifle. it's the parts inside the rifle that

really make it an assault rifle.

kinda like i can paint an old honda to look like an indy 500 race car, but it still has a 4 cylinder engine in it.
i can call it a race car, but it isn't really one.

But yet he had no problem jumping on guns right away or blaming a terror attack on a film maker . I could go on

The last time I checked the US is averaging a new mass shooting (for the less informed, a gun or guns is ALWAYS involved in a mass shooting) hence 'jumping on guns' isn't a leap to a potentially false conclusion. Unfortunately due to the pace of mass shooting events even the possibility that this one was an Islamic Extremist terror attack is muted by the much more common bi-monthly mass shooting events.

I don't think that I will respond to your Benghazi tangent as it's as irrelevant as discussing the invasion of Iraq looking for weapons of mass destruction. Governments lie. Who knew?

They are not deceased? I have no trouble calling them terrorists if that proves to be the motive for this incident.

You, for such a self described super genius, sure failed to comprehend what I wrote.

I don't and did not say I thought feeling harassed for being a Muslim is a justification for becoming Radicalized. I said clearly that it could be a factor in the irrational thinking of the, prior to this incident responsible American gun owner, who happened to also be Muslim. So if the religious harassment angle turns out to be true then my statements stand up as possible motivation leading up to this mass shooting.

Pretending to be bothered by statements I did not make is a disingenuous way to avoid my ultimate question. Why is this horrific mass shooting more horrific than the other bi-monthly mass shooting events the US experiences, even if the motivation proves to be Islamic Extremism?

By calling them "the deceased" you are giving them respect they do not deserve and putting them in the same category as the victims. Next, you'll tell me all the papers should say "16 dead in a terror attack". Give me a break. That was my point that you obviously failed to comprehend. Never have I heard an attacker being called a "deceased". An attacker should be called an attacker. Deceased are the 14 victims.

No I am not a "self described super genius" and the only time I ever mentioned my IQ was in response to the common liberal practice of pretending anyone who doesn't agree with their view on things must be really super stupid.

I think there is no chance your religious harassment angle will end up being true. Absolutely no chance. He killed people, because he wanted to, and would have wanted to whether a tiny minority of the population hated/harassed muslims or not.

Nobody says(at least not I) that this mass shooting is any more horrific than other mass shootings. The motivation is different but the act isn't very different besides the fact that they tried to use bombs as well which you don't often see in other mass shootings. Outcome was similar no doubt. But...how are more gun free zones or gun laws going to help? Terrorists will get weapons if they want to. Legal or illegal. Not to mention the fact that 92% of mass shootings ARE in gun free zones or places with strict gun control.

In the end you just as dead if the 5.56 came from an Ar-15 style weapon or a Mossberg MVP.

But you know Libs. They here AR-15 or assault rifle and they are all about the ban, regardless of the fact they have zero knowledge of the subject.

Never thought much of the 5.56. Much better rounds available.

I could say the same thing about people wanting to discuss Islam and not knowing the difference between Muslims practicing their faith and ISIS.

Then should we ban handguns since the bulk of gun deaths come from them?

Interesting that John Lott's study arrived at 92% occurring in gun free zones and Bloomberg's has it at 14%. I suspect the correct answer is somewhere between those two.
