I came to the states with k-1 visa. I got married and filled for the AOS early September.

Everything went so fast, 21st of last month I got the AP/EAD card. Around same time they've schedule my interview for 18th of December so I was waiting for it.

But 30th November I got the AP/EAD approval letters that they said they've sent it on13th november. I was thinking it was maybe because the card was priority mail and the other one wasn't.... Anyway it made me want to check the status again after a while, and when I did it was saying my case was approved. On 30th of November!

Does it really mean they approved my case without the interview?

I'm confusing if I still need to go to the interview. I'm waiting for the approval letters that they are saying they've sent me, but if it takes that much time to be mailed, it will be too close to my original interview day. (13th to 30th... 17 days to get the letter.....)

I tried to talk to people at USCIS and they are saying I just need to wait for the letters.

Is there anyone having same issue???

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Can you explain a little more clearly here. What is "it" in this sentence? Which form did USCIS approve and send you on November 13th exactly? Is it possible they are talking about your approval for AP/EAD (I-131/I-765), NOT your I-485?

It is possible they can approve your I-485 without an interview, but highly unlikely they approve without at least taking your picture and fingerprints first. Did you go for your biometrics appointment already?

I would make plans to go to that interview until you figure this out. The USCIS rep should be able to tell you what exactly is going on. If you didn't get a proper answer, call them again and make sure. If your I-551 is approved, it will say so in your file and they should be able to tell you.

Oh sorry I didn't write it clear. That was my AP/EAD approval letter.

And I think my greencard got approved without the interview because on the USCIS website the status is saying the card was mailed to me.

If they sent it on 2nd of December(that's what the status is saying) with priority mail probably today or tomorrow I'll be able to receive it so I'm planning to call USCIS when I receive the greencard and make everything clear. Thank you.

Interesting...I haven't heard of green cards being approved this quickly, but I haven't paid attention to processing times lately. My wife got her green card without an interview though, so that part isn't weird. Perhaps you got lucky and got moved to the front of the line somehow? I would definitely get clarification from USCIS and not wait for the letter, but make plans to attend that interview just in case. USCIS should know what the status of your case is though, and if they can't give you an answer, I would ask to speak to a Supervisor there on why they can't tell you.

Out of curiosity, did you have your biometrics appointment already?

I know this is weird! I've been checking all the websites for the greencard but I've never seen any case got approved this fast.

I think giving you my timeline will be a lot more helpful.

I sent all the documents in September. I don't remember well when was it exactly, but it was after 9th and before 16th of September.

They received my case on 21st of same month.

I had biometrics on 16th of October.

November 13th, they have scheduled my interview for 18th of December. From this day till 30th I didn't check the status

November 21st, my AP/EAD card was delivered to me.

November 30th, I got the approval letters for the AP/EAD.

I was wondering why it took this long to be delivered. At the same day I went to check my greencard status to see if anything new happened, then saw that my case got approved that day.

December 2nd, the status got changed to "the card was mailed to me"

So basically My case got approved in 2and half month.

I'll update here when I get the greencard. But yes i know it's odd...?
