My fiancé had his medical examination recently and was asked if he has suffered from depression to which he answered yes.

The following question was if he ever thought about self harm, and he said no. Later after the exam, he realized that he mightve told his GP that self harm did seem comforting (although he never acted on it).

We're worried that the records he'll pull will contradict what was said at Knightsbridge and he'll be dismissed for a visa.

My fiancé is fine and isn't unstable. His depression was a long time ago and was brief and minor. Does anyone have any idea what will happen next?

Did they ask him to refer back to his GP?

If not you'll be fine

They asked him to request more information from his GP. Diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, etc. The whole shin dig.

I'm hoping that if he had to do a psychic evaluation, that will clear it up and show he's alright.

Thank you, I really hope so and believe it too

There's a part in the London guide in this sub-forum that mentions it being a very good plan to get your GP (or his GP, in this case) to use the magic words 'is not a danger to himself or others' on their statement. Probably a wise idea to mention that, just in case.

June 11th 2015 - NOA1. off to California Service Center :D

July 27th - NOA2 !!! much faster than expected

August 19th - rang NVC, got LND case number and told our file is 'about to go to London'

August 20th - booked medical at Knightsbridge for September 16th, 10:10am. Feels good.

September 1st - rearranged medical for October 5th, 13:30, because reasons.

September 4th - packet 3 received.

October 5th - medical completed at Knightsbridge. X-ray technician suggested playing Barry White during the procedure.

November 12th - visa interview. Nailed it!

November 20th - collected visa package from DX Southampton

December 6th - one way flight to Philadelphia!

December 31st - getting married! :wow:

NOA1 to Interview: 5 months and 1 day.

My fiance sent off the request yesterday, but forgot to ask his GP to confirm he is no longer depressed and that he is not a danger to anyone or himself. Is it too late to ask to include that information in the report?

What do you think will happen if the report is sent to the knightsbridge doctors without that vouch? Is it too risky?

Knightsbridge will ask for more information if what you bring is not sufficient for them. This is what Sunya kindly posted that was asked of Tim.

<p>My fiance indicated he had battled some depression 3 years ago while going thru the separation from his wife. He took with him a letter from his doctor but Knightsbridge asked for this additional information. Just thought I would share so that you know all they will be asking. Hope this helps. He was given a form by the doctor and asked to have his doctor provide the following information. Please provide a brief medical report outlining:

  • Diagnosis
  • Investigations - if any
  • Treatment
  • Duration of treatments and illness
  • Any prior or subsequent mental health illness
  • Any incidents of self-harm, harm to others or suicidal attempts
  • Prognosis and your opinion of current mental state
