Question for those of you guys who've got their GC's; have you went to the SSA and had that phrase removed, and if so what did you take and what do you say? Now that I've got my GC I feel like I might as well get it removed :) planning on doing that this week coming.

I got approved on 29th, 30 mins after my interview. The officer did not write down my ROC date though. Any idea when will my ROC date be?

Hey Rach! Yeap I will be heading to SSA office after receiving my green card, also will be heading to banks to update them my status, I had problems opening bank accounts back then after my marriage. They advised me to update them my info after receiving green card.

Oh yes and also if anyone of you bought private health insurance, might probably consider changing your insurance cos its alot cheaper with green card!

Congrats! I'm heading to the bank too, we had no issues adding me to my husband's account when I first got here but I'm still going to update my info...and eventually go to get my GA drivers license :)

Oh God I'm still waiting for my green card to get practical test, apparently mollene(another georgia filer) and I had the same problem with applying using EAD even we showed our documents. Luckily she found another location way better than other branches.

You probably don't have to visit the bank, maybe give them a call and ask if you need to update to save ur trip. Unfortunately for me, when I open a personal bank account with CHASE, they made me fill up a full stack of forms, and rejected me even though they held my money. I can only open a bank account with my husband in it but was told to provide them green card copy once I got updates for my immigration. I probably going to open one for Bank of America.

Really? The DDS I spoke to said no problem with EAD. But that's a non-issue now since I've got my GC. Yeah, our bank is Wells Fargo, they've been super helpful through everything so far so I've had no issues. Luckily it's not far and I'm going there for something else anyway so no worries on the trip ? it's crazy how different banks are here from what I'm compared to! Good luck, hope you get it sorted.

To join the ROC talk, remember that you MUST submit the paperwork before the GC expiration date (for conditional GC holders) or you will go into removal procedures. The earliest you can file ROC is 90 days (not three months) before the expiration date. We will mail ours on the earliest day so we don't get rejected for sending the petition too soon.

Try to make sure you save for the fee before the filing. I was reading on here where someone waited for the last minute and the petition was returned because the filing fee was incorrect. I don't know what kind of problems they would face, but I just know we don't want those sorts of problems!!

Hi, I see you have your future ROC dates mentioned in your timeline. Is the ROC date two years from the date of AOS approval, or two years since marriage to U.S. citizen spouse? I am trying to figure out if I also have to deal with ROC this year since our two-year anniversary is this December.

I am trying to figure out if I also have to deal with ROC this year since our two-year anniversary is this December.

From what I understand, if you have been married less than two years when the GC is issued, its a two year GC, and ROC is two years from GC issued/approved date. I don't know what happens if you reach your two year anniversary during the AOS process. If you filed in January 2016, you may get your GC before your two year anniversary.
