It's great. GA is a lovely place to drive. I drive a lot in TN too since I'm right on the border. You can tell how different it is ha. I'm so used to driving on the other side too but it's simple once you get used to it. It helps that my husband found me a nippy manual suv. I don't like automatics and very thankful I can stick with a manual ?

You'll get the hang of it soon enough I'm sure. Although I'll admit I've been able to stay clear of the interstate so far...it freaks me out to say the least!

We submitted my wife's AOS / EAD last December.

Received her Biometrics Appointment only a week ago with the schedule date 3/22 at 9am.

On 3/21 her EAD was approved PRIOR to her Biometrics Appointment.

We went yesterday and they only did her pictures for EAD and NOT her fingerprints.

We spoke with the Immigration Officer handling the support center and he said that he has no idea.

He did check his system is there is any existing fingerprints ( from the US Embassy in the P.I. ) but none was found.

He said that this is ok because we are waiting for the EAD so she can get her SSS...thats true but we also want her GC....

A couple of hours after, her EAD is in production.

This is really weird, her Biometrics Appointment shows both application EAD and GC but it was code 2 which we found out that it is only for pictures.

Why do you think they did not get her fingerprints for her GC ?

Anyone experience this ?

oooohhhh the wait and the eeakky feeling....

The last activity our case has had was the biometrics and a name change that happened at the appointment. We filed in December, but the acceptance status wasn't shown until Dec 31st. So the last day possible. :)

Has she had any other visa, such as a tourist visa? If your GC status says fingerprint fee received, then you can submit a service request. We did that in January as our biometric letter wasn't sent yet. They may respond fast as the biometrics service request is assigned to your local office.

Signature coming soon...

Hi all, no updates since we received my husband's EAD/AP card on March 2nd. Just to wait on the Greencard now. But after spending 5 hours in the DMV last Thursday (not because anything was wrong - they're just SO slow.) He finally has his North Carolina Drivers License. We were then able to purchase and finance him a new car this weekend. He has had several job interviews as well and he got offered a job today!! So he should be starting in the next week or so with them - things all fall into place so fast once that EAD card comes through the door!

No, she does not have any other types of visa.

Yes, GC Status shows Fingerprint fee received so we will call again for another Service Request.

Here is the full timeline:

1. Applied EAD/AOS December, UCSIS confirmed Receipt 12/11.

2. Early March we called for a Service request for both applications.

3. Received biometrics Appointment Letter with both application numbers listed.

4. 3/21 Checked online and her EAD status is approved PRIOR to her Biometrics.

5. 3/22 Biometrics appointment to find out that USCIS is only asking for her picture and not fingerprints. It is code 2 on her Biometrics Appointment letter. ASC was also wondering why this is the case.

We spoke with the Immigration Officer who is in charge of the ASC and he was also wondering why.

He asked my wife if she did her fingerprinting before and her answer was only in the US Embassy in the Philippines.

He looked it up in his system and it DOES NOT show any fingerprints.

He said, we have to follow what the letter is asking us to do which is only for a picture for her EAD. He said that this is what we are really looking for so my wife can get her SSS and work and we might receive another Appointment for fingerprinting. Deep inside me i was like...nooo most important of all things is her GC....

We did not push the issue...so tomorrow we will call again for another service request..

it is really frustrating that we have to go again for her fingerprints to be taken...

We hope that this is not really a big issue and that USCIS is just really backlogged....

We are planning a Church wedding in the P.I. next year and cannot even set dates because of this...

Yesterday, My husband wasn't allowed to take his driving test because we are still waiting on his SSA card. That was pretty disappointing since the next available test is May 19!!! Ahhhh! But at least we were successful in getting his name change completed this morning! Yay! He also had a job interview at an establishment close to his college this morning. We are going to wait for both the SSA card and GC to go to the SSA and DMV office to change his name, remove the DHS message on the SSA card and extend out his learners permit. Still a lot more, but can't complain because the GC is coming!

But VJ is now blocked at my work computer! No! Oh well, I will survive. First world problems.

Definitely file a service request, perhaps even schedule an InfoPass appointment at your local office too?

With regards to your church wedding, if things aren't looking up in the next couple of weeks it might be worth filing the I-131 Advanced Parole which would allow your wife to travel prior to receiving her green card. I don't know what the fee is for applying for this separately, but if you want the security of knowing that she will definitely be able to travel when you start planning your wedding it might be worth it.

It's all very mysterious.

If you have applied for AOS you don't need to pay for AP even if you file separately, you just need to note on the form that there's a linked I-485. I filed for AP separately and didn't get charged at all
