Your RFE is for your GC or your AP? It sounds like your RFE was for your GC? Are you changing your name through marriage? I had actually read this happening to some people on the October and November 2015 AOS filer threads, so I sent three certified copies of our marriage certificate with our petitions. I had read that you should send a copy for each benefit (GC, EAD, AP = three certificates) especially if you are changing the married name. That way, they have proof of your name change. I think it may also be to show you have proof that you qualify for that benefit. However, I don't think it's a hard and fast rule - it probably depends on the officer's discretion... But I have seen this RFE crop up for seemingly unnecessary reasons before. At least it's a quick fix!

It's for my GC (AP already approved, EAD still pending). The RFE only mentioned the i-485 form.

I'm not changing my name (and neither is my wife) but I didn't send a copy for each benefit so perhaps they used the certificate for the EAD application and that's why they're asking for another one?

As you say, it's a quick fix (luckily I had to get another copy of the marriage certificate for something else so I have a certified copy ready to go).

Thanks,

Charlie

I only sent one certified copy of my marriage certificate. I had an RFIE ( ITR and W2) last Jan 20 and they received it on the 5th of February since I sent it at the end of the month of January. I never heard anything about my EAD but they have approved my GC on March 5th without interview..

goodluck!

I'm so anxious to finally buy a car and get my here drivers license. I just really hope that we get the EAD soon so I can get that started before my mom comes to visit at the beginning of April.

You're not able to take the bus? My husband's driving test is in two weeks, so we should have his EAD/AP ready to extend his license, but I doubt we will have his SSN to show them, but there's a chance we might? If we get the card this Friday, I will take time off work to sit in line at the SSA office. Last time we went, it was so packed, I considered driving to another office, but we didn't wait too long at all.

I hope my guy passes the driving test this time. Our DMV charges $10 for "releases of condition", and it covers three driving test attempts. I'm wondering if he passes, that same $10 can cover his permit to license restriction removal? Over here, it takes about a month to schedule a second driving test! Hopefully it doesn't take you that long when you get the license!

*laughs* A bus? Out where we live. There isn't even a bar within walking distance. :)

My Social Security card arrived 3 days after I visited the office to do the paperwork. Hopefully your experience will be the same!

Driving license things vary from state to state so I don't know how it works for you guys.

I'm not sure if you guys even care. But I'd like to share my wife's green card process with you guys. We filed for green card and employment authorization and advance parole oh with an NOAA date of December 15, 2015. It was a long time of waiting till we heard from at least the employment authorization . And we did...finally. On March 4 they approved us. And today it says they mailed the ead card. But also. In regards to our green card. We had an rfe for the green card in regards to my pay stubs. I forgot to include them. They received my rfe response. On January 28 2016. So.....today we checked uscis....and it says "new card being produced". And it looks like they also approved our green card with no interview!!! Couldn't be any happier!!!! :) but yea just thought you guys could benefit from that timeline.

Of course we care, Florida2! That's what this thread is for - to tell each other about our progress and encourage each other! Each time I see a GC approval, I tell my guy and tell them if they applied after or before us! Congrats on your milestone! You can cruise until ROC!

I have a question - Do EAD/AP cards get a tracking number? Our status changed to "My Card was Mailed to Me" yesterday, but I was hoping to get a USPS tracking number to see when it may arrive. Or is that only for the GC's? Thanks.
