Hey guys, I have an update from USCIS that I am required to schedule for an interview for I-485. I guess that is why my AP has no update and they only approved my EAD.

My interview will be in end of march. I'm trying to read through the forum to see what are the documents to bring along during the interview and how it is been conducted. Anyone has any further information do share?

Hello All,

It seems that USCIS released AOS guidelines. Previously, I was not able to access this in their online policy manual. (I assumed it was classified.) It has some interesting points about what the adjudicating officers are looking for and other tid bits, like what qualifies for an interview waiver.

6 days later and I'm still waiting for my RFE to come through in the mail... :clock:

Why does it take so long? I figure the earliest it should come is today, but we could be looking at March 3rd. I think a more reasonable time is February 29th given N and S's experience, but we might get it a little sooner.

One person in a different filer thread received their RFE notice and it was blank. That's right - completely blank! So we should be so grateful to have a description of what they need on our notices!!

Nice to see the approvals still coming in. Congrats to all those who got 'em.

I've not heard anything since I called NCSC on Monday about the 75 day 'approaching regulatory time frame' service request. Wondering if it's worth another call as nothing has changed on my cases or if it's simply another installment in the 'sit quietly and wait' series?

That blank RFE is either really easy or impossible to satisfy, depending on one's existential outlook. :D

My goodness, shouldn't we just! It would be so much more efficient if they just emailed it all out! I guess efficiency and consistency are low on their priorities... I can get a letter back to London in less time than this!

You are well within your right to badger them mercilessly until you get some kind of response. Go for it!

I gave them a call. A very nice but unfortunately robotic lady informed me that, with regards to my EAD and Monday's service request, I must "call back on March 9 - we can't speak to you about your case until then." I half expected some evasion and that date would be Day 91. Otherwise known as clobbering time. :bonk:

She could, however, talk to me about my AOS. My case is still at the NBC and that "they have everything they need" which sounds like a bold assertion but one that I shall cling to like a blanket on a cold day. :)

So my RFIE came through today! I suspect yours will arrive tomorrow, Amhara.

Anyway, so it's all about the i-864 affidavit of support. Despite the letter I included explaining how my husband was a student in the UK last year (and therefore had no income and did not file a tax return), they are now demanding one from him. Although it also says on the RFE, "If you were not required to file a Federal income tax return under US tax law, attach a written explanation of why you are not required to file." Which we already did.

Also, he apparently doesn't earn enough to be 125% of the poverty guideline (when, in fact, his income (of which we provided proof) represents over 200% annually), so i have to get my father in law to be a joint sponsor.

What's most infuriating is that, if they would just give me my EAD, I could become a tax paying citizen myself and not even need any of this.

Here's to a wonderful weekend of forms and paperwork ahead  . Sorry for the rant, it's over now.

Yes, ours came tonight too! Ours was only the name issue and while it is requesting items we had previously sent (birth certificates, marriage certificates) I think they were giving us a chance to provide the name change certificate since we mailed the blank name change petition in December. Damn Texas employee who couldn't submit the background check properly!

But since my guy has a doctors appointment tomorrow, we should be able to send this off tomorrow. We sure have been giving the USPS a lot of business lately!!
