December 2015 AOS filer status

We didn't need to show anything regarding immigration nor residency. We do need to pay the out of state tuition rate, but that changes per state. He will qualify for the state tuition in November 2016.

We need to get his foreign classes evaluated, and that's going to be about $150 or so, but thankfully, we can wait a few months for that. Since his classes don't require prerequisites, we will give them the evaluations later - perhaps when he is ready to apply to a university. For now, he will be at the Dallas community college for about a year.

That's kind of the same situation I'm in. I need to have my BA evaluated which the college said they'll do easily. Luckily my husband gets in-state tuition and the college he attends awards in-state tuition to the spouse of a student already receiving in-state tuition all I need to wait for is my drivers license as that's all they asked for in regards to proof of residency and address. Which means waiting until I get my EAD but I wasn't looking to attend until fall anyway

Filed for AoS on 10th Dec, received all 3 NOA's, I have my biometrics appointment on Monday.

Are there any fellow Texas filers here? If so, are we able to apply for a driver's licence with AoS NOA1 or do we have to wait till we receive EAD?

We walked in on Wednesday here in Nashville and got it done no problems. No need to wait for the 11th for our appointment. I hope it speeds the process up.

just had biometrics taken at Columbus OH, today. It was a breeze! there were only 2 others in line, and I only waited about 10 mins for my turn.

Got my biometrics appointment ! Jan 20th, in Los Angeles. I am so happy! This is for me, one of the last steps! It took 11 months since the beginning of the process (K1). I feel really emotional and I am so happy to share it with everyone here! This website has been an emotional anchor and it helped me out through everything!

I had my biometrics completed on the Thursday the 7th and on the 8th i got an RFE i wonder what they need, i guess i just have to wait and see.

My husband originally got his Learner's Permit back in September. And it was valid until his I-94 expired in November.

We got our NOA1 hard copy in the mail a few weeks back and went to a DMV in Charlotte, NC today.

We tried to renew his Learner's Permit, and no luck. The guy really didn't know what he was talking about but said Josh needed to wait til he got an "extension" before he could get his learners permit renewed again.... ugh.

Here's to hoping the rest of the process is speedy and he can just get his EAD soon and then just get his permit and license sooner when that comes!

My biometrics went fine. Quick, easy and pleasant. We arrived an hour before my appointment time and were let relatively straight in. They only allow so many in at a time. Fill in a form, check details, get fingerprinted and a photo taken.

Very simple step in this process ?

Biometrics done in Houston, pretty much the way everyone has described quick in & out. Just a note, if your EAD & AP are in your new name, make sure you have picture ID with that name or your marriage certificate.

Yesterday someone in the November 2015 AOS filer thread was approved for their GC. Many from the October thread are still waiting and many are putting in requests after they have been waiting for 75 days from their NOA date.

I am glad it seems to be moving quite quickly for most people though. Really, I dont think any of us really want to wait longer than we have to! This can not move fast enough, right? :-)

Received the RFE letter in the mail!!!!!

I need help with what so send for the RFE we just received. We filed I-130, I-485, I-765 concurrently. My spouse just had his biometrics last week. We knew the RFE was coming and it just arrived and here's what it says:

"Submit evidence to establish that the petitioner on form I-130 or decedent on form I-130 is a United States Citizen. Such evidence may include: a birth certificate issued by a civil authority showing birth in the United States, a Puerto Rico Birth Certificate (myst gave been issued on or after July 1, 2010), a copy of the biographical page of the petitioner's unexpired United States passport, a copy of the petitioner's Certificate of Naturalization or Certificate of Citizenship, or a copy of the petitioner's Department of State Form FS-240 (Report of Birth Abroad of a United States Citizen)."

So, I have some questions:

1) I already sent them an original birth certificate, why do they want another - did they lose it? Do I have to send them an original birth certificate again or can I send them a color copy?

2) Do they just want one item from above or should I include the passport biographical page color copy as they ask for?

3) I always thought here on Visa Journey people say to NEVER send just the biographical passport page? However, here is the USCIS sending us a letter asking for just that page and no others? I'm very confused!

4) Do I need to send it back to them with tracking? ie FedEx or Overnight? Do I need to include a cover letter as well and a G-1145 for email / text notification or since I already sent them that with the original packet it's tied to that?
