December 2015 AOS filer status

I wrote to the relevant USCIS field office last month and requested that the interview be rescheduled but have not, as yet, received a response. Hence this uncertainty.

I've assembled all of the evidence requested in the interview notice but would be lacking one rather important piece of 'evidence' at the interview: my spouse. And yup, I thought of getting a letter from his employer. They - or, specifically, his boss - said that "our personal lives [are] not her concern" and refused when my husband asked for such a letter - then reminded him that he'd be fired if he missed any part of the event happening next week without her explicit prior authorization.

Such a charming lady.

Gosh, don't you love it when people go out of their way to be unpleasant? So much for employee satisfaction... I guess the best you can do is turn up and explain your situation. Take a copy of the letter you sent to the USCIS field office and explain you never received a response. I don't know the system well enough to give you any more robust advice I'm afraid. But I truly wish you the best of luck.

You could try having your husband write his own letter explaining work, print on work letter head and have it signed by a superior (are there any others than his grumpy lady boss? she sounds charming).

That is essentially what my husband did for any and all letters we needed from his work for evidence. His bosses were happy to sign as long as that was all they needed to do. One of them was always around, so not having a specific person needing to sign made it easier.

Just checking in on everyone. Hope you are all doing well! My spouse has everything now, including a state drivers license. The only next step is lifting conditions. I'm so happy that we are over the largest hurdles now.

I received my welcome letter today for my I-485 . Approved! no update online, no text message, no emails but I am happy.

Since I had to be up near Santa Clara anyway to see a man about a dog, I decided to use my British superpowers and turned up unannounced at the Santa Clara USCIS field office. I expected to get turned away since I had no INFOPASS appointment but they let me in and I spoke with someone about our unattendable interview next week.

Totally fine. A letter will arrive in 30 days with a new appointment date/time on it. If it does not arrive within 30 days, schedule an INFOPASS appointment to keep the I-485 application 'active' and come back then - with husband if possible - and they'll see what they can do.

Phew! Not protocol at all - from me or them - but am relieved to not now have removal proceedings dangling over my head next week.

I try to check the processing time, it always gives me a blank page..
