Congrats and thanks to share your experience!!

And I totally fell you, this page and forum been really a big help through my immigration process.. There are just some arrogant people that thinks that it is their job to do that, and nothing else counts.. But oh well!! Here we are and still helping!!

So my interview yesterday was very straightforward. Once we were called in by the IO we swore to tell the truth and sat down. He then went over my i-485 form and made any updates (e.g. change of address) which I then signed off on. He then asked me the security questions they ask prior to K1 interview (have you ever committed crimes you weren't arrested for?/been deported?/tortured anyone?) which I wasn't expecting but obviously had no trouble with. He then asked where we met and how Zach proposed, and if we had any financial documents with both our names on. We then showed him our tax return and lease which he studied closely. We also gave him car insurance, phone bill and gym membership which he didn't take much notice of at the time but kept. He asked for a few photos from our ceremony and with family but only flicked through the first 5 or so photos in the 100 page album I'd put together!

He left the room to make copies of documents and photos for their file. When he got back he said we were good to go, and subject to one last security check I would be approved. Then told me to apply for ROC 90 days before the expiration date on the card and offered us an opportunity to ask questions. Sure enough, today my status updated to New Card Being Produced. So I guess that's it for me for 21 months!

As a side note, I went to my first Seder with my Jewish husband at the weekend where we ran into a very nosy and rather invasive immigration lawyer (friend of family). She was asking all kinds of questions about our case in a rather condescending tone and asked if I had any legal representation. I told her no, and that I'd been using this really helpful online forum called VisaJourney. The person to her right asked if she'd heard of it to which she replied, "No, I don't even look at these websites, they tend to leave stuff out". Safe to say I was getting kind of mad by this point, so for the sake of my new extended family I kept quiet. But LITTLE DOES SHE KNOW how wonderful and helpful this forum has been to so many people. So, folks, thanks on behalf of my bank account that I didn't have to pay someone to get all the information this forum has provided. What a treasure it is.

Wow! That didn't take long, did it? Sheesh!!!

LOL.. it took:

The total number of days between Thursday, December 24th, 2015 and Thursday, May 5th, 2016 is 133 days.

This is equal to 4 months and 11 days.

This does not include the end date, so it's accurate if you're measuring your age in days, or the total days between the start and end date. But if you want the duration of an event that includes both the starting date and the ending date, then it would actually be 134 days.

If you're counting workdays or weekends, there are 95 weekdays and 38 weekend days.

If you include the end date of May 5, 2016 which is a Thursday, then there would be 96 weekdays and 38 weekend days including both the starting Thursday and the ending Thursday.

133 days is equal to 19 weeks.

The total time span from 2015-12-24 to 2016-05-05 is 3,192 hours.

This is equivalent to 191,520 minutes.

You can also convert 133 days to 11,491,200 seconds.

NOW let us see if they will interview us....

NOW let us see if they will interview us....

I don't want to get your hops up, but I recall something similar happening to a November 2015 filer. They were waiting several moths for their biometric appointment, but were issued their EAD/AP before their biometric letter. Strange thing was that after their biometrics, within weeks, their GC was issued. Strange situation, but hopefully you have similar results!!

Currently I'm staying in Georgia, with no driving license, my job search area is only around my husband's workplace or near home :( we only have one car for now.

Yeah, Singapore don't have to do background checks, they prob only just call your ex employer for reference.

When you refer to education check, how do they go about? Because I graduated from Australian degree, not sure if I need to do something on my side. As for previous employments, you mean they call up employers for last 5 years to check? I need to inform my employers if that's the case. Its kinda troublesome, not all employers are nice :(

Do they pay for your criminal check and drug test or do we have to pay a fee for it?

Over here, most good jobs are taken by Georgia Tech grads :(

I would love to go there someday, we really hope to look into Seattle or NY, but it really depends on my husband's job. I'll try to see if there's amazon office here in ATL. Thanks!

I havent been looking these two weeks, my parents are coming tomorrow, we will be going on tour for 2 months. Probably gonna start sending resumes again next month. I do really hope to get a job though, it is kinda frustrating when I can't buy extra stuffs like handbags, clothes etc and need to think twice on no income on my side.

Oh yes btw, I just received my Learner's Permit actual ID today.

The company will pay it for sure! You don't need to worry about the background check as long as you you didn't do anything bad in the past. Most people want to see the Big Apple and live in the American dream but it's too expensive to move there unless you make a lot! Good luck in your job hunting! I'm sure you will find something that you like.

So, folks, thanks on behalf of my bank account that I didn't have to pay someone to get all the information this forum has provided. What a treasure it is.

Dang. So my husband's college wouldn't process his financial aid because his name doesn't match on the GC. We called yesterday to request an expedite based on financial loss to an individual. The expedite request was denied today. They certainly got to his request fast, but will attend to our I-90 rather slowly. Their e-mail said, "Due to the high volume of expedite requests for this case type, (what, are there a lot of errors going around?) we are strictly enforcing the criteria that has been set for these expedite requests. While your situation appears serious, you have not provided evidence of an extreme emergent need."

So it looks like about another five more months of waiting for us. By then, we might decide to abandon this petition and pay for a new card altogether with his official name. Well, maybe I can convince my husband to take only two classes this summer and just plan a trip or something. We do need to go to Los Angeles to get his passport updated...it's good to look for the 'sunny' side of things!

Oh great on the background checks and medical that we don't have to pay, I don't really like if they're calling ex employers and asking questions, my ex bosses some aren't really friendly and don't really like to be called for referencing. We wanted to move to Seattle because we are both in the IT Network engineering field and currently my husband is working as something not related to his field.

CONGRATS Hannah&Zach! So happy for you both! My officer did not take copies of any of our documents, I remembered the funniest question was if I have done prostitution and I was like WHOOTTTTTTTTT and we all laughed. Officer even said "you will be surprised with all the different kinds of answers I've heard" and we chat alittle. I was also asked if I have a personal bank account without my husband's name, and I said OH YESH I DO HAVE PERSONAL, and asked if my husband has a non joint bank account, he said no, and he laughed and told my husband THAT WAS A BAD IDEA MAN. I was given a piece of paper that states Needs to be reviewed before making decision on my approval, but was given approval after 30mins or so.

I've also seen alot of lawyers during my waiting time! They have SO LITTLE documents, like one thin file! We took so much hard time collating our stuffs etc! I do know someone that went through same process as us, she got a lawyer paid alot of money, and failed in K1, going through spouse visa for alternative, still waiting and pending! She paid a really huge amount!

Hey guys, do we need to do vaccinations again (after 1 yr expiry) after conditional green card? Some vaccinations are not recommended if we want to conceive, just want to know if we still require to do that in between the period till ROC and during ROC.

Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, do we need to do vaccinations again (after 1 yr expiry) after conditional green card? Some vaccinations are not recommended if we want to conceive, just want to know if we still require to do that in between the period till ROC and during ROC.

Thanks in advance!

If you have records of your vaccinations, you never need to get them again. I don't believe you need a medical examination after AOS or initial/conditional GC issuance anyhow. Even if the issue were to come up, you can always get a blanket waiver for any additional vaccines. I believe that my husband's medical was accepted without the complete set of vaccinations because his age qualified him for a 'blanket waiver'. You should be good.
