My parents will check in at section 0. I and my brother also checked in at section 0 last year. It will be second floor East parking.

Any tips you can share since you went through this last year? Or is everything pretty straight forward?

It is very straight forward. I came 15mins early (about 6:45am). Go up to second floor, stay outside and get in line. They have the number on top of the door. All applicatnts will get in line by the number they got on the appointment. All other visitors will get another line. When it is 7:00, they let you in. All applicants come to the table which marked by the number, give their greencard to the officers, verify all information on the certificate are correct, received a piece of color paper (green, blue, yellow, etc.) that has your A#. Then go to the main door in the back, receive a naturalization package (Oath of Allegiance, passport application, voter registration card, certificate holder, etc.) You have to wait about 2-3 hours until the judge arrive (yeah I know, 2-3 hours waiting) When they are done with the Ceremony, they will call by the COLOR of the piece of paper that you got from the beginning, go back to the table that you gave back the green card, receive the Certificate, verify all information again and then you may leave. Now, you are a U.S citizen!

Good luck :)

What a great summary! Thank you.

One more question while I'm pestering you; you said that visitors stand in a separate line. Houston used to let visitors and applicants sit together once inside, do they still do that ?

And I'm wondering if I can tell my guest to just show up at 8:30.

Today i had my interview at Newark, NJ field office.

My appointment was scheduled for 8.45 am. Came there 40 minutes earlier, parked a car on the parking lot across the street ($12 for up to 12 hours). There was a long line in front of the main entrance, so in a couple of minutes an officer came out and took the half of the people to another entrance, I was the first in that line. We we told to take off our shoes, belts and etc, passed the security screening, went up to 14th floor, checked in with security officer over there and went to window 2 to register at 8.25 am. My husband was with me.

The waiting area was packed. I was called in at 9.30. The officer was a nice lady, she swore me in, asked for my greencard and a driver licence or any other state ID, I told her I didn't have any state ID but I can show her a bill as a proof of NJ residence. She said that's OK and no need for it. Then she started going through my application. Asked my name, my maiden name, date of birth, place of birth, where I live, If I still married to the same person and if we have kids. Then asked a couple of yes/no questions: if I ever failed to file taxes. I said no, she asked how I filed them, I said "jointly with my husband". She asked if I understood the oath, if I could take it today, if I received any military training and if I will bear arms if I need to. Didn't ask for any supporting documents.

Then she moved to Civics. Asked to read the sentence (what state has most people), write down the answer, asked 6 questions.

1) What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment?

2) If the President can no longer serve, who becomes President?

3) Who signs bills to become laws.

4) There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.

5) What is one reason colonists came to America?

6) During the Cold War, what was the main concern of the Unised States?

That's it. Gave me a couple of papers to check for the mistakes and sign them. I left the room in less than 10 minutes.

I was asked to wait in the waiting area (and again it's a very crowded office in Newark - people barely can hear their names, so try to sit not too far) for an oath letter. Waited till 11.40am, everyone who was behind me got their letters and left for noon ceremony and I was told (I asked) that my case was still under reviewing. At 12.05 they called my name, gave me my certificate to check and sign it, gave me a folder with information about everything and a little flag. Today's the Flag Day by the way.

Oath started around 12.30 with 90 people from 38 countries, lasted for almost an hour. Then we took tons of pictures on every corner of the room with flags, Homeland Security emblems, Statue of Liberty and etc. That was awesome! So I'm finally a happy US citizen.

- Whole process took a little less than 6 months.

- I didn't load my case file upon sending it to USCIS, put there only lease documents under our both names, kids' birth certificates, green card photocopies, husband's naturalization certificate and our marriage certificate. Maybe that's why it took so long for them to review my case. Who knows.

Thank you everyone for your support and advises and good luck ^^)

Absolutely Jimmy, visitors just get in a separated line. Once they get inside, applicants and visitos can sit together. And yes, visitors can come late, they have nothing to do anyway, just waiting. The doors are still opened.

Congrats to you!

Hello Everyone I am glad things are moving forward to the better for all of us in this amazing nation. Can someone please update my information:

Trangyakan

Interview Letter: March 28th

Interview: April 26th

Oath Ceremony: June 29th

Field office is Fairfax VA.

In Virginia, some people say they had same day ceremonies but most people don't.

;-))

The questions I had if I am not mistaken:

- What do we call the first ten amendments to the Constitution? ▪ the Bill of Rights

- Who is in charge of the executive branch? ▪ the President

- What is the name of the Vice President of the United States now? ▪ Joseph R. Biden, Jr

- What group of people was taken to America and sold as slaves? ▪ Africans ▪ people from Africa

- What movement tried to end racial discrimination? ▪ civil rights (movement)
