Oh, sorry... I didn't mean to imply that it's not important or that they won't look at it and ask questions about it. I meant that at this point (before being placed inline) the file isn't even in the field office, and no interviewer would have looked at it. Also, I was trying to say that it would have nothing to do with a pronged background check.

It's good that our fellow applicant is checking up on the status of the application... that's perfectly normal... but there's no reason to be overly concerned at this point.

Gotcha!! :idea:

I don't know what to tell you except that if I were on your place (which I was up until Wednesday) I would not worry one bit about this.

Just in the last 2 weeks, May, June, October, and November 2015 applicants were placed inline. they've all been waiting.

It sounds like scheduling an appointment will make you feel better, so do that. It's not going to hurt.

I'm trying ? unsuccessfully.....

I see those options:

1) You need Service on a case that has already been filed;

2) You are a new Permanent Resident and have not yet received your Permanent Resident Card;

3) You want to file an application in person;

4) You need information or other services; 5) You need a form.

I assume I need #1, right? But after choosing #1 I get "We offer 4 kinds of appointments for a case that you have already filed. Please choose from the following:

1) Order from Immigration Court - If you were directed to us for processing based on an order from the Immigration Judge. You must bring all documents required in the post order instructions given to you by the court.

2) Case Processing Appointment - If you received a notice to go to your local office for further case processing.

3) EAD inquiry appointment - If your I-765 employment authorization application has been pending for more than 90 days.

4) Case Services follow-up appointment - If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment."

Nothing applies to me. On the page where I filled an inquiry I saw an option to correct a typo error, but I cannot add my employment history there, only submit typos... I'm stuck ?

Hello! I am new to this site and have a question. My husband filed his n400 in december and just received a text todoy that his interview has been scheduled and to look for the letter in the mail! Our problem is that his permanent resident card expires this month. We have not filed to renew becase we wee hoping he would get his interview before the expiration date. Now I am reading that his interview may not be for at least another month. Does he need to renew his permanent residency?? Will they hold it against him if his card is expired at his interview??

He doesn't need to worry about it unless he needs to travel abroad.

Someone asked this recently on another thread but I don't remember the answer. Try posting a question on a new thread on the forum.

When I was placed in line for an interview two days ago, I got an email, but no text message. My online status was also updated.

This afternoon, 48 hours later, I got the text message.

Also, this wasn't from a 5 digit number like other messages I've seen from USCIS. It was from a regular 540 (Northern Virginia) area code number.

Ok, I have a question. I want to schedule an info pass appointment because my application really bothers me. I didn't fill in the form 2 of my part-time jobs (during my university years) + one more thing. I didn't think about those jobs because my life in my country more than 7 years ago feels like a different life centuries ago. I forgot about those 2 places I worked for for less than 3 months maybe once a week. But I had that data in my student visa application and then my adjustment of status application. I want to correct everything to know for sure that such a long wait for a background check isn't the problem of my application. Should I wait for my inquiry answer (which obviously is going to be a statement that I'm still in the background check phase, otherwise I'd been in line already) or try to schedule info pass asap?

You can correct that at the interview. Just carry the list with you and give the officer when you are done.

spmaria, I can guarantee you that making an infopass will not help you. Been there done that. If it is a background issue, the field office will not help you and they will tell you so at the infopass. Also, they will not take any documentation from you and will ask you to wait. When the file is at NBC, there is nothing much they can do. All they do is tell you to wait until they get the file. But if it does ease your concerns, you can still go but I am afraid waiting is the only option here. I had been scheduled for an interview in November of last year. NBC cancelled it I guess for further review or something. I was told I was going to be rescheduled in 30-45 days. That never happened. I made an infopass after 60 days and 90 days yet they could not help since the file was at the NBC. They however sent an email to them asking them to reschedule me since the 30-45 days were way over. I was rescheduled for May, exactly six moths later. If the file is not in the Field Office in which case you would have been put online, they have nothing to see.

I wanted to go there to correct my mistakes to be sure that I did everything right, to get some peace of mind. Didn't wanna bother them about "what takes you so long?!?!" But you're absolutely right. I didn't think that my field office doesn't even have my case on their hands to correct anything. Basically it will be pointless. Appreciate you and Jimmy explaining that to me, at least I know I didn't do anything that horrible that I had a chance to correct but didn't even bother.

Passport will work. It serves as proof of ID and U.S Citizenship.

I received today the "Request for Applicant to Appear for Naturalization Initial Interview" letter dated 04/27. The appointment is for June 1st. What is that Initial? Is that in every letter? Or is something just for me?
