New citizen here . Ceremony was last Thursday at the Irving Texas Field Office. Schedule was supposed to be @ 8:30, but they started the check in process around 8:45 which took about 45 minutes. Th

My oath ceremony was on Friday. Scheduled at 7:30am, started around 8 and lasted 50 minutes. I was out by 9am. There was 80 new citizens from 30-35 different countries and 90 new citizens from Cuba :) I'm so happy naturalization process is over!

I applied for passport this morning.

I know I wasn't very chatty here, but i was following daily all your posts and it helped a lot :) So, thank you everyone!

Updating your info to the timeline adds a huge amount of value, even if you aren't chatty, so thank you for participating. I'm sure future Miami applicants will be particularly grateful.

So your case gives us an interesting piece of data to look at... you are the first to be naturalized of those who opted for an early walk-in for biometrics and you are the 17th out the group to be naturalized. I think this supports the theory that an applicant's field office and the particulars of his/her case have far more to do with the speed of the process than the timing of the biometrics appointment. In my opinion, early walk-ins should be done in the case of scheduling conflicts on the day of the appointment... many applicants go to extreme lengths to do an early walk-in and it's not worth it in most cases.

If it's convenient to go in early, then there is no harm in trying, but I definitely wouldn't drive all the way across town just to see if they'll let me in early when there's no real benefit to going in early. No one in this group seemed obsessed with this issue, but in the past, there have been cases of people trying early walk-ins multiple times and at multiple offices even though they were free on the day of the appointment.

I was placed inline for interview scheduling this morning. I received an e-mail update and my online case status was updated around 11:30am. I did not receive a text message, which is why it took a couple of hours for me to notice. My status now says that USCIS "started the interview scheduling process." Not sure if this is related to the online inquiry I made last week, but I'm inclined to say that it is.

November-2015 filer here. But since I have followed the December-2015 thread as well, I wanted to provide an update:

Interview and Oath - done. Citizen of US of A - as of yesterday!

Jimmy, congrats on the in-line notification! May I ask, how did you frame your query in your service request?

If you log on to your case page, you'll see a section at the bottom for Case Inquiry.

That will take you to a page with several options, the most logical of which is Case Status Inquiry, but if you try to submit a case status inquiry too soon (6 months for some people and 8 months for others), the system will reject it.

So I did as another applicant (Groovyaardvark suggested), and submitted a Notification Not Received Inquiry, since I haven't heard anything since biometrics in January... all I really wanted was confirmation that my biometrics were taken successfully.

After that, it's just a standard form... you just type in your info and at the bottom it asks you what the last action on your case was (biometrics in my case).

Let me be really clear that I do not think that inquiries will do anything at all if your background check isn't done... in my case, i think that the check must have been recently completed, but USCIS isn't very efficient at going back and checking up on cases, so sometimes they just sit there until someone goes to check. In these cases, an inquiry helps.

Good to know!

So far, the score in favor of inquiry is 3 x 0...

Not so sure.. the case status page still says that the inquiry has not been assigned, but they're clearly not great at updating things. My guess is that the inquiry caused someone to look at my case and he/she said, "Oh! This guy's background check is done! I'll go ahead and put him inline."

Hopefully the background check really is done... some people make it to the interview and are told that it hasn't been completed.

Jimmy, congrats on the in-line notification! May I ask, how did you frame your query in your service request?

Just to clarify, this was an online inquiry; not a Service Request placed by a Tier II officer on the phone.

I was placed inline for interview scheduling this morning. I received an e-mail update and my online case status was updated around 11:30am. I did not receive a text message, which is why it took a couple of hours for me to notice. My status now says that USCIS "started the interview scheduling process." Not sure if this is related to the online inquiry I made last week, but I'm inclined to say that it is.

Congratulations! Finally!

I had a feeling that this week I become the last and only December looser XDDD
