This is just my guess, but I don’t think that in your particular case, the inquiry did much more than remind them to update your status.

You made the inquire last Friday, and they updated your status to Inline this Monday, then you got the letter on Wednesday… that’s very fast, even if your status changed again to Interview Scheduled on Monday. They would have had to schedule you, print the letter, mail it and get it to you in 48 hours. I think there’s a good chance that your letter was already on its way when you filed the inquiry, and they just updated your status… but if so, why didn’t your status change to Interview Scheduled instead of Inline on Monday? Something’s odd, but who cares?!? You got your interview!

I could be wrong and the mail could be insanely fast in your area!

Oh I definitely agree. I think the turn around time is a little bit too fast to think it definitely was related to the inquiry.

I am mostly stating "after my inquiry" just as a heads up to others. I just thought it was worth mentioning.

As you say, I am just so happy to finally have an interview date in any case!

That's what I wanted to write but decided against it. I submitted an inquiry on Monday and it's still not assigned to the officer. It doesn't work that fast. I guess they just opened the case file to check and realized that they already scheduled an interview but forgot to update the status...

Well, Jimmy. Maybe we'll get lucky. Ot, at least, will know that background checks are still pending...

Well the rest of us will be patient, but I think it goes to show that inquiries help in some cases... in this case it was to update the case status, in others an inquiry could remind them to schedule an interview.

If it turns out that the remaining 3 are still in the background check phase, we should probably try another inquiry in a month or two.

Also a reminder to check your mailbox even when there's no change in online status!

Let's see other cases that made an inquiry (Mananto, Spmaria, and Jimmyhow) to draw a conclusion.

I wish the best for all of you.....

In my case I filed the inquiry on March 14th and I received a reply on April 4th that my case is in the field office waiting to be scheduled for an interview. A week later on April 11th, my status changed to "interview scheduled". Letter arrived on 04/17

That's awesome! But I don't if it will work for me and JimmyHou. Let's keep our hopes up...

If my case won't move anywhere after that I'll schedule an infopass. I was reading a lot about different cases and I found my old green card application. Now I see I've made some minor mistakes on my N-400. I want to correct them. What if that minor mistakes will lead to more scrutiny or even denial of my citizenship?!? I want to do it right.

New Us citizen!!!

My Oath ceremony was yesterday Friday 22nd at Federal Plaza NYC 8.30am.

The ceremony started around 9am and took about 45 minutes. It went really smooth. They didn't name all the countries 'cause there were 75 different countries and not enough time. My husband and mom visiting from Peru attend the ceremony so that make it really special for me.

I'm so happy this process is over. I'll be applying for my US passport this Monday =)

Finally time to close this chapter. Thank you VJ for all the help I got from this wonderful website.

Good luck friends!
