I got an update from USCIS today.

Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled

We placed you in line for your oath ceremony and will send you a notice for Receipt Number NBC*xxxxxxxxx, with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony. You should receive your notice within 30 days of its mailing date.

I am a little confused with this status. Does this mean they sent out something in the mail for my Oath schedule? Or does this mean they are still working on getting me an Oath schedule and they will let me know once they have one and have actually sent out something in the mail?

Nope, fhe officer didn't tell me any time frame. Just said that the oath schedule will be sent in the mail.

I also got an email asking me to contact them if I don't receive a response to the inquiry by May 10th.

I think the message means that they have received your inquiry but that no one has looked at it yet.

Good, well, at least we have a time frame for now. Hope our situation will change soon...

The interview letter arrived yesterday, 4/20/16.

My interview date is scheduled for 5/25/16.

I am very very relieved.

I hope the rest of the horsemen receive some good news from your inquiries also. I am impressed at how fast things moved after my submission.

This is just my guess, but I don’t think that in your particular case, the inquiry did much more than remind them to update your status.

You made the inquire last Friday, and they updated your status to Inline this Monday, then you got the letter on Wednesday… that’s very fast, even if your status changed again to Interview Scheduled on Monday. They would have had to schedule you, print the letter, mail it and get it to you in 48 hours. I think there’s a good chance that your letter was already on its way when you filed the inquiry, and they just updated your status… but if so, why didn’t your status change to Interview Scheduled instead of Inline on Monday? Something’s odd, but who cares?!? You got your interview!

I could be wrong and the mail could be insanely fast in your area!

That's what I wanted to write but decided against it. I submitted an inquiry on Monday and it's still not assigned to the officer. It doesn't work that fast. I guess they just opened the case file to check and realized that they already scheduled an interview but forgot to update the status...

Well, Jimmy. Maybe we'll get lucky. Ot, at least, will know that background checks are still pending...
