All done with my ceremony yesterday! Getting both kids up at 5:30am was the hardest part as one of them doesn't normally get up for school until 7. But we got there just in time for 8:00am sign in and instructions. It was a nice ceremony but somehow a little less than I expected. I don't know why. Perhaps it was the judge lecturing us on the state of the country at this time and how we all needed to register to vote in order to make it better. There were no empty seats in the entire hall and we had a 5th grade class there to observe which was kinda neat. There were two other Canadians. I was fascinated by all of the people from such far away countries. Moving from Canada is nothing. it isn't like I fled from some awful place and now have such a great life. I didn't have to adapt or learn a language. I was just amazed by all of the people from all over the world who are here now after coming from so far and having to learn about a different culture, language, climate etc etc etc. Those are the interesting stories. Mine is boring! I was proud though that the kids actually stood up and said the oath with me. I didn't really tell them to, they just did and it made me proud!

I immediately went to apply for our passports so that will be the next mystery. I have two challenges to overcome and I hope I don't have a problem. One, is whether they take my naturalization certificate as enough proof for the kids and the other is whether my sole custody documents are satisfactory. We shall see!

I updated my information at NEXUS on Thursday. Crossed back and forth from Canada to the US with only my NEXUS card and Nat's Certificate and had absolutely no issue crossing.

New citizen here . Ceremony was last Thursday at the Irving Texas Field Office. Schedule was supposed to be @ 8:30, but they started the check in process around 8:45 which took about 45 minutes. The ceremony itself was about the same time, so i was out there before 11am. , and no table for passport processing only for the voter registration. Citizenship is finally done for me and my son. For all the December filers who still in process hang tight and good luck!

My wife's oath ceremony is tomorrow morning. Since she happens to work in Irving, she is going to take the morning off from work and go to the ceremony and then go to work. Hopefully, it won't be raining very hard tomorrow. It will be nice not to have to deal with a green card anymore. Like you wrote, the next step appears to be applying for her passport. Eventually, I think she needs to renew her Filipino passport, (which has expired) because she wants to have dual citizenship in case she wants to buy real estate someday in the Philippines. I know she also wants to petition to bring her parents here. Also, now she can vote. Yay.

With the Phillipines, there's a little more to it than applying for a new passport...

FINALLY AN UPDATE!


Recently I tried to file a case inquiry for "outside normal processing times" as I had not heard anything in 3-4 months. Of course the algorithm of the website kicked it back saying I needed to wait 6 months.

So I sent an inquiry of "notice not received" instead as I was starting to become worried I just never received anything and the website was not updated (happened to me previously).

Today I got an in-line notification! Hooray!

I am very excited for the letter and date to arrive!

I sent an inquiry of "notice not received" instead as I was starting to become worried I just never received anything and the website was not updated (happened to me previously).

Today I got an in-line notification! Hooray!

Sure... I'll try the same today. There's no harm in trying and it's less annoying than calling. If my background check isn't done, they'll just say so, but if it is, maybe this'll speed things up.

Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled

We placed you in line for your oath ceremony and will send you a notice for Receipt Number NBC*xxxxxxxxx, with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony. You should receive your notice within 30 days of its mailing date.

I am a little confused with this status. Does this mean they sent out something in the mail for my Oath schedule? Or does this mean they are still working on getting me an Oath schedule and they will let me know once they have one and have actually sent out something in the mail?

Out of the 10 of us who filed early, 8 were placed inline exactly 1 month before the green card anniversary date (with exceptions for weekends). Two of us were not placed inline by the predicted date. I'll update this list when the last one (me) is placed inline (hopefully).
