I have plan to travel back to Brazil on 6th May. so I have 1 month ahead,

- Is that enough to make my passport?

FYI... You need a tourist visa as a US citizen to travel to Brazil. You could probably expedite your US passport application if you already purchased your plane ticket but then you would need to make a trip to a Brazilian consulate to get the visa unless they allow application by mail. Good luck!

Congrats!!

Dear my all VJ-ers,

I just want to say I get approved on 03/30, :D

there is no words to express how thankful i am to VJ friends for helping every step in this journey.

The interview was fast and smooth, even if i was really nervous but the IO was nice and always repeated "Relax, relax,..." haha

she started with Civics test

1. what is freedom of religion?

2. how many U.S senators are there?

3. when must all men register for the selective service?

4. when was the constitution written?

5. Name one state that borders Canada?

6. what ocean is on the east coast of the United States?

I answered 6/6 and she moved on to N-400 yes/no questions.

then she announced that I passed. woooohoooooo

she asked if I could attend the Oath this friday, but then she came to me and said it is not available. So she moved to Monday 4/4/2015 and I said YES, then asked me to wait 15-20 mins to hand me the Oath letter.

Omg i could not believe that I finish my immigrant journey, now Im ready to start K1 visa for my fiance.

Thanks all my VJ buddies.

one more thing I want to ask, regarding to my US passport.

I have plan to travel back to Brazil on 6th May. so I have 1 month ahead,

- Is that enough to make my passport?

- What should I prepare for my passport application?

You basically have three choices when it comes to passport applications: regular application, expedited application, expedited application at a regional passport agency.

Many people applying for passports without expedited fees are getting their passports back within 3 weeks... that's no guarantee though; it could take a lot longer... look at the passport tracker here:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/580456-2016-us-passport-card-application-tracker/page-9#entry8054400

If you have proof of travel within 2 weeks or proof of travel to a country that will require a visa within 4 weeks, you can get a passport much faster (maybe even the same day) at a passport agency. You'll need to go in person to one of these special agencies and you'll need an appointment.

https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports/information/where-to-apply/agencies.html

You can ask more detailed questions here on the VJ passport forum:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/158-passports-etc-what-to-do-now-that-you-are-a-us-citizen/

I'm glad to report that I passed my interview!

My interview appointment was for 11:15 am at the Philadelphia office but we arrived a little after 10am and parked at a paid parking then walked down the street to get some breakfast. We walked back down and arrived back at the office around 11am. Signed in and then I was called around 11:30am. The IO swore me in and began going over my application and confirming spellings, dates and other details. He then went over the yes and no questions. After that, I took the civics test. My questions were exactly the same as zzmr_qzz's...

1. what is freedom of religion?

2. how many U.S senators are there?

3. when must all men register for the selective service?

4. when was the constitution written?

5. Name one state that borders Canada?

6. what ocean is on the east coast of the United States?

I was then given a sentence to read and another to write. The IO then recommended me for approval. I live in Delaware so he told me he could schedule an oath for me at the Delaware office which would be a month from today. I told him I wouldn't mind driving back down to Philadelphia for an earlier date. I was then scheduled for my oath on Monday, April 4th at 11:00am. The entire process took about an hour from arrival till we left the building. Very pleasant experience.

Thanks VJ!

Hi Kwakun,

Do they allow people to take cell phones inside? I am assuming they will ask the applicants to turn them off if they do. If they don't allow, I plan to leave it in the car.

Thanks.

Thanks VJ!

Both my husband and I brought our cell phones into the building. We both had our phones out while waiting and I noticed other people were doing the same. There were signs saying "no cellphone use" but I believe that means you can't make or take phone calls. No one bothered us about having our cell phones out.

So I called in about an hour ago to see if my oath date was available even though the system only said that I was in line for oath scheduling. I got off the phone and not five minutes later I got a status change text. I called back in. No luck finding out the date but was told that the letter was mailed on the 29th. I just hope they don't do what Jimmy has me freaked out about which is schedule me for THIS Friday!!! Very unlikely of course but I'm still a bit paranoid!

Let's see what we get but either way, the notice has been issued!

I would pyscho call like a crazy ex until the IO told me what the date is....but then again I am super pushy and b*&%*y when I have to be.
