Osune22's info updated... here's a suggestion for my fellow December filers... in previous months, adding an early walk-in date or a rescheduled interview date at the end of a line messes up the table and results in more than one line per applicant. I suggest that instead of listing both the original and the new dates, we just include the actual date (of the bio or the interview) and underline it). I've done this below and added a line to the legend to indicate that the underline means a changed bio or interview date. Kash and I agree that this is better; it captures the necessary info and doesn't mess up the table. If you guys like it, we can stick with this format going forward. Alternatively, we can just list the new dates and ignore the original appointment dates, but I like the method below better; it captures the fact that an early bio was done and is still easy to read. Feel free to let us know what you'd prefer!

Any extra benefits for early Bio? Does one get earlier interview schedule? Just trying to gauge previous trends and experiences!

It's hard to tell... if you've applied 90 days early, then there is very little benefit because you cant be naturalized before the 90 days are up and most offices won't schedule you for an interview before your 90 days are up. If you haven't applied early, then you might save a week or so by going in early. You could be scheduled for an interview within a few days of your biometrics and in this case, going in early may save you a few days.

However, in a process that usually takes 4 to 10 months depending on where your field office is, saving a week or 10 days isn't usually considered worth the effort or risk of being turned away or having to wait during an early walk-in. If you live a block from the office, it's worth a try. If it's a 2 hour drive, I wouldn't do it unless I had to.

In a city like Houston where there is only one ceremony a month, an early bio could make the difference of a whole month, but it's very hard to predict things like that because you don't know when your interview will be. In cities with daily ceremonies, it becomes less consequential.

The value of an early walk-in is for people who are traveling or can't get the day off work on their scheduled day; in my opinion, trying an early walk-in is worth it in order to avoid having to formally request a new date and wait for a new biometrics letter in the mail.

Those are my thoughts.

In your case, you're done and you've got one less thing to worry about!

Ok thanks. That sounds really insightful. We shall see what happens.I am March 5th. on the optimistic side i should hope that the whole process should come to conclusion probably March ending. My ASC has oath ceremony once a month.

That would be pretty fast, but definitely possible. Just from what I've read, I think 5 to 6 months is good, 7 to 8 months is reasonable, and more than 9 to 10 months is slow and more than 10 months is really slow. But of course, it depends on the office, for example Boston is pretty slow and Atlanta tends to move quickly and then take a long time for an oath, etc.

Updating my timeline... I received my NOA (I-797C) today with a Notice Date of Dec 22nd.

Received notification that my NOA date is December 24, updating with sxm's NOA as well! (sxm, please let me know if checking via USCIS My Case Status reveals an earlier NOA date.) Note that my check cashing hasn't cleared my bank yet, so I'm leaving the cashed date blank until I know otherwise.

seems u r describing the timeline for I-751. out here I see mostly 4-5 months turnaround. Fingers crossed hoping for the quickest timeline possible.

Thanks Spoom. USCIS case status says they received it on 12/28.

Receipt date and NOA date are different (at least for me the receipt date was 12/18 and the NOA date was 12/22). I think it's the NOA date that goes in the table and that date will be on the actual form you get in the mail.

I was looking at N400s over the past few years. Applicants things were quite slow two years ago and then sped up this time last year and then slowed down again over the Spring and Summer. It's office-based, but if you trend Houston, for example, 2013 applicants were averaging 7-8 months then in late 2014 they were averaging 4 months then in early Spring 2015 they started averaging 8-10 months. In the last few months things seem to be going faster than last Spring but not as fast as last Winter. Here's hoping we're all done sooner than we expect!

Received notification that my NOA date is December 24, updating with sxm's NOA as well! (sxm, please let me know if checking via USCIS My Case Status reveals an earlier NOA date.) Note that my check cashing hasn't cleared my bank yet, so I'm leaving the cashed date blank until I know otherwise.

I could have misunderstood but I don't think sxm has his NOA date yet. That's the notice date on the form. I think sxm just got the receipt notification. If I'm wrong number, please ignore otherwise we can adjust the date when the NOA is received.
