Interesting Jimmy. I heared a lot of rumors about USPS so I avoid doing passport at USPS. Public libraries are Okay, but I guess they don't send out the application everyday. My friend's certificate get folded in the mail when they mailed it back, and she got mad about it, lol. I and my brother changed name, and the photo were glued to the certificate, my parents did not so the photo were printed digitally to the certificate. And yes, they use expensive glue :)

It seems that almost all name change applicants get their photos glued on. I think it's because the biometrics photo is sent to USCIS with your scanned signature on it and USCIS doesn't want your old signature on your certificate. It wouldn't have made any difference to me since my name change is minor and my signature hasn't changed. Glad to know the glue holds!

The lady at the library stapled my certificate to the passport application; as I knew she would. I don't mind if they fold it but I hope they don't tear it. Others have posted a out it being returned with missing edges or corners.

To the others who have finished and are still reading this, did you all apply for passports pretty soon after naturalizing?

I applied the same day, but no expedited. Got my passport this Monday (2 weeks), and also got a passport card (I needed that ID while I don't have a lisence year and I'm going to Canada in 3 weeks) yesterday. Waiting for certificate and hoping it comes back without missing corners (that's what happened with my husband).

It would be nice but I doubt I'll hear something before November /December

It would be nice but I doubt I'll hear something before November /December

That would be odd... USCIS is required by law to make a decision within 120 days of the interview.

They do go beyond that limit sometimes, but it's not common because they then open themselves up to litigation, in which case they could lose control of the decision to an immigration judge.

"USCIS has 120 days from the date of the initial naturalization interview to issue a decision. If the decision is not issued within 120 days of the interview, an applicant may request judicial review of his or her application in district court."

"If an officer denies a naturalization application based on ineligibility or lack of prosecution, the officer must issue the applicant and his or her attorney or representative a written denial notice no later than 120 days after the initial interview on the application"

https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume12-PartB-Chapter4.html

You have a lawyer, and I'm sure you'll follow his/her advice. That's a good path forward, but I'm sharing this information just in case you or stavroula are not aware of it. Best of luck to you both.

My interview was on April 6 so if that is correct I should have decision already. I think 12O days means 120 work not calendar days. Thoughts?

The government is good at specifying business days when they mean business days. For instance, the 90 day early filing rule just says 90 days, not business days. So if you were interviewed on April 6th, you're 120 days should be up around August 6th.

There's really no reason, based on what you've shared with us, for you to still be waiting. My guess is that they got your reply to the RFE and put it in your file, and your interviewer hasn't looked at it yet. That's why I suggest calling or visiting them because it causes someone to go and physically look at your file. I see no advantage at all to waiting; even if the decision is a negative one, it's better for you to know that now than a month from now. That part is just my opinion, but you may prefer to wait until August... I really wouldn't wait beyond that, though. Once you're past the 120 day mark, there's no prediction; you could get a response in November or in 3 years.

I see what you are saying and agree with you.

They got my rfe on May 3rd. I wouldn't do anything since I have lawyer but if I don't hear anything by the end of first week of August I'll ask lawyer to make some inquiry.

Most of the time they will approve prior to 120 days elapsing. I have a friend who had a hard time at the interview and she was convinced that she was going to be denied. Infact the officer said at the time "This is not good. This is just not good". They waited for almost 120 days and they approved two days before that.

Congratulation everyone. I'm so happy for you all.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck to daqh

Daqh, congratulations!! Finally you have the letter.

You're one of our quieter members, but hopefully you'll see this or you're already aware of it.

I came across this and thought it would be helpful; it's a list of judicial naturalization ceremonies in St. Louis for 2016.

http://www.moed.uscourts.gov/sites/default/files/2016NatCer.pdf

USCIS says that almost all ceremonies in St. Louis are judicial, so you'll probably get into one of the ones on the list. They also don't have same day ceremonies.

https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices/missouri-st-louis-field-office#Naturalization%20Ceremonies

If you are approved at your mid-July interview, hopefully you'll get into the last July ceremony or one of the three August ceremonies.

Good luck.

Sorry guys, I didn't check to this forum frequently, so I missed your comments.

I went to the interview today. Basically everything was going well until she asked me for leases. Both I and my wife are listed on the leases but only I signed on them (because lessor did not require both of us had to sign). That makes me in trouble. I passed all the tests, but the I.O. request me to send them the leases with signature of both of us. I went home, then send them immediately by mail. Hope to hear something from them soon.

An unfortunate delay, but hopefully relatively minor.

Now we've got 3 of you in a post-interview holding pattern.

Give them a call if you don't hear anything in a few weeks, but don't worry if you don't hear anything right away.

Good luck.

I received my naturalization certificate today.

The mailman put it in my neighbor's mailbox. Luckily, it ended up with one of my more considerate neighbors and he left me a note saying that he had a letter from the passport office for me.

That saved me having to get a replacement certificate.

This marks the end of my passport process. I had applied on 6/30, got my 52-page passport and my passport card on 7/18, and my certificate on 7/23.
