Here's the update. My dads Interview went really well, it lasted for about 20-25 min. Here's what he said.. Officer went over the application to make sure everything was correct. There was a typo in my brothers birthday, which my dad pointed out . It was corrected by an officer with no problem. Some of the questions he remembered were:

Who is the president now?

Who is Chief Justice?

Longest river in US?

House of representatives has how many voting members?

Read: who was George Washington?

Write: George Washington was the first president of U.S.

That was it. We are just waiting on a 2nd floor now to receive an oath letter.

Oath is scheduled for March 16th!

I have come back from my interview. I have been APPROVED.

Checked in at 12:20 PM for my 12:45 PM interview. Was called in at 12:50 PM.

As soon as we entered the room the officer asked me to keep standing and then had me take the oath to speak the truth.

He then asked me to read sentence 1 from a list of 3 sentences - What do we pay to the government? (not sure about the exact wordings)

Then he moved on to the Civics test.

What is freedom of religion? - You can practice any religion, or not practice a religion.
How many U.S. Senators are there? - 100

When must all men register for the Selective Service? - I said "at age eighteen". He asked me to give the other answer and gave me a hint "between the ages" - between eighteen and twenty six.

When was the Constitution written? - 1787

What ocean is on the East Coast of the United States? - Atlantic Ocean

Name one state that borders Mexico - California

Next he asked me to write the sentence on line 1 - "We pay taxes."

Then we went over the whole application. Finally he gave me N-652 and asked to wait outside for the notice of oath. Waited almost an hour for the N-445.

The oath has been scheduled for 18th March.

I had my interview today at Federal Plaza building in NYC and passed!!!

My interview was scheduled a 10.55. I got called at 11.15 into a tiny room. They took my oath and continued with the test.

Questions asked:

*What happened on September 11th?

* What is the name of the national anthem?

* What ocean is located on the West side?

* Who wrote the constitution?

* Age to vote?

don't remembe the last one =( but I responded correctly.

After that she continued checking my file and I had to answer all the questions.

I brought my taxes from the past 5yrs, birth certifcates from my kids, marriage certificate, green card and my 2 passports and she did check them to verify that the info from my trips was correct. Passport and GC were the only documents she checked.

That was it. Very easy, I was out in 15 minutes.

She told me I passed the test/interview and have to wait for a letter with the date of my oath ceremony. According to her they have ceremonies every week =)

You seem to be good at it and I don't even like ordering pizza on the phone, let alone talk to USCIS!

(Edit: Which, I guess, is technically over the phone since I'm ordering it on my smartphone, but you get the idea.)

LOL that is because I am pushy and rude when the CSR tries to blow me off and won't transfer me over to an IO. At least the CSR that I spoke to today was really helpful and told me "Yeah obviously you know the drill so I will transfer you over to a IO."

moemac59, can you please give us a few more tips on how to talk to USCIS and what to ask? I have a baby voice and people on the phone always ask me to talk to my parents instead. I guess I have that "knows nothing" vibe because even after I order something from Domino Pizza app they call me back to make sure that I really wanna order that Hawaiian pizza with pineapples and if I wasn't some kid making pranks... I really wanna call USCIS and ask what takes them so long to place me in line but even thoughts of it give me a stomachache ;-(

When the CSR lackey starts going into their usual spill about my online status, I always interrupt them and tell them what the status of my case is (ie. My USCIS online status still says interview date scheduled vs. what has been completed by USCIS...my interview is done and waiting for oath date..status has not been updated) I just do not take no for an answer. If the lackey is giving me a hard time and won't put me thru, I usually just call back until I get to speak with an IO. You have to be persistent. The lackey's seem to think that we don't know how the system works and will usually try to brush people off. I am never satisfied with that and keep pushing back. As soon as I get an IO, I am as sweet as pie as they are the ones who have access to your file and can see everything.

I find that usually talking over them helps...brutal as it is, it seems to work. I figure that we pay alot of money for this and that because of that, I should receive the service that I deserve.

Just be as pushy as you can even if it is not in your nature. I am generally a person who hates conflict in person but have no problem being really assertive on the phone until I get my way...as rude as that is, it works.

When you speak with the lackey tell them that you want to speak to an IO as the IO has information about your case that they (the lackey) cannot see.
