Of the 1,140 victims of anti-religious hate crimes:

• 56.8 percent were victims of crimes motivated by their offenders’ anti-Jewish bias.

• 16.1 percent were victims of anti-Islamic (Muslim) bias.

• 6.2 percent were victims of bias against groups of individuals of varying religions (anti-multiple religions, group).

• 6.1 percent were victims of anti-Catholic bias.

• 2.5 percent were victims of anti-Protestant bias.

• 1.2 percent were victims of anti-Atheist/Agnostic bias.

• 11.0 percent were victims of bias against other religions (anti-other religion). (Based onTable 1.)

Per the FBI, 84% of hate crimes based on a person’s religion are not directed at Muslims. Most are aimed at Jews. Outside of Jews and Muslims, 25% of these crimes are directed at other religions.

In a country of close to 325 million people, there were 183 hate crimes committed against Muslims last year. This is only 19 more over the previous year, which is meaningless as a stat(not saying it's meaningless to the people it happened to).

The point isn't Jewish people. The point is we can't pretend like there's this new big mean genie that has to do with muslims alone that didn't exist before and is going to exacerbate times 100 now only because of a couple terror attacks here and there. There will be racism and bigotry by some against some always. Nothing to start going into a panic about.

Why not? The president used the crusades as an example to tell them mean christians to not be getting on their 'high horse' if I remember correctly when the world was condemning the people who were burning a man alive in a cage earlier this year.

I been in Birmingham when visiting my fiance. Very nice place and what i remember about the people I met is that they have the same attitudes as us here in the US, only real difference is they drive on the wrong side of the road. The kid was probably just a punk and didn't even know or care about her religion.
