Hi guys,

It is my first post on this forum. I was going through a few threads and noticed how people are so helpful around here. So, I decided to post my query here. I hope someone can help me with this.

Timeline as of now:

I-129F package sent to Service Centre 16-Sep-15 NOA 1 received 21-Sep-15 NOA 2 received 23-Oct-15 Case forwarded by Service Centre to NVC 26-Oct-15 Called NVC for Case # 18-Nov-15 Case forwarded by NVC to US Embassy in Pakistan 16-Nov-15

We checked the case status on CEAC website and it shows as "Ready".

Details of the status are: Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the US Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment.

MY QUESTION IS:

What should I expect next? Will the US Embassy in Pakistan contact me for documents and interview? Or, will I have to contact them to schedule my interview? Basically, I need to know how things work at US Embassy in Pakistan for K1 Visa processing and what the next steps are going to be.

If someone who has recently been through the K1 Visa process from US Embassy in Pakistan can share their experience, it would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

FNM

Yes the embassy will contact you and will let you know about the required documents and the interview date and time. Keep checking your email address that you provided to the embassy. For anymore queries please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks for your reply Ali. I have been constantly checking my email address for any intimation from the embassy; none received so far.

Any idea how long does the embassy take to contact? And what sort of document checklist should I be expecting? I want to start working on the documentation asap.

We almost have the same timeline. Also waiting for an email from the embassy. Not sure how long it takes.

Nah, I didn't as yet. Actually, I am travelling in 10 days time and will be away for 3 weeks. What if I submit the docs and get an interview call for when I am away? I am sure it wouldn't be that quick, but who knows lol. So, I want to submit the docs once I am back, just to be on the safe side. I do have the docs almost ready though.

I'd suggest you submit yours asap. Sooner the better :)

Haha thanks. Yes I actually completed my documents the same day they sent my fiancee the email. I actually didn't know we can delay sending documents. That's why my fiancee used DHL to send me the documents. But now it saved us time anyway which is great.

You are right about getting an early call. Seeing different timelines I have noticed that the embassy can call as soon as a few day to over a month. Good luck with your travel :)

Thanks :)

But now I am slightly confused. You mentioned your fiancee sent you some documents too. Is it ok if you tell me which documents did she send you? I did not know I'd be needing anything from my fiance except for the Affidavit of Support (form I-134) which he said he will send me a scanned copy of. Do you think he'd need to send me the original copy of the form? And, is there anything else I'd be needing from him?

The list of documents in my packet 3.5 are:

- Civil docs: Birth certificate, marriage certificate for any prior spouse, divorce/death certificate for any prior spouse, police certificate, visa photos, copies of passport

- Affidavit of Support: I-134

Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No problem.

Yes she sent me the original I-134s and letter from employer stating their position and salaries.

We are actually collecting all the documents we can such as W2s, Tax transcripts, property ownership, pay stubs and the like, all of them copies of the originals, because we would like to go completely prepared and since these are only copies, she just scanned them and I printed them out.

The I-134 however you need the original one as far as I know.

Apart from that I just filled out DS-160, sent passport and birth certificate copies and 2 photos. Police certificate is not required if you haven't spent more than 6 months outside Pakistan.

Got that. I will get him to send me the original I-134 then.

Are you sure the police certificate isn't required? Because, I went back and read packet 3 instructions which say: "Police certificate(s) from any country where you are currently living or have lived for more than one year after the age of 16 (not required for time spent in the U.S., Pakistan, Afghanistan or India). Include English translations and one set of photocopies."

Doesn't that mean we do need to submit the police certificate? Errr... dunno

Nah you don't need any. It say not required for time spent in the U.S., Pakistan, Afghanistan or India. They are meaningless since we don't really have a database to check the records against anyways.

Go here and click 'Police, Court, Prison Records' it explicitly say they are not required.

And you have a lot of time so your fiance can send the I-134 quite comfortably through a non expensive post
