How long does it take for the NVC to receive your case from the USCIS right after being approved ? My case was just approved in December 1st, 2015 from the Potamac Service Center. Also, do I just wait until the NVC reaches out to me

I found out my case was approved via the uscis website. So I have not received the letter yet.

It varies. For many people, it's within 1-2 weeks. For us it took NVC 36 days to receive the case. We're still waiting for the case number.

First, you should keep track of USCIS. They will tell you when they send the case to NVC. After that, start calling NVC.

Took us 9 days. I think it varies though. Some have taken 1-3 weeks. I'd recommend calling every few days to see if they have received it... Then once they have, you'll have to wait another few weeks for your case number and IIN... After you confirm they received your case, about a week after that i'd start calling each day to ask if they have your case number.

So this is the 30-day mark after we got the scan date - Nov 3. My husband called and was told that she will place us under supervisor review and would take 42 days. We are not sure if that is on top of 30 days or just another 12 days more.

Anyway, we will just keep waiting and praying. Goodluck to all of us here.

Technically it means another 42 days. For many people though that have been placed in supervisor review after their initial 30 days waiting, it's only taken around a week to get a case complete. It seems the default timeline the NVC gives is 42 days for everything.

I'm a little confused. So I just got the approval from the USCIS on December 1st. What do I do now ? I read the wiki page, but on NVC website the steps say after approval a person should choose an agent. I have a lawyer. And I'm wondering what now? Do I just wait. What happens directly sering that I've been approved on the website

It'll probably take the NVC around 1-2 weeks for them to receive your case from USCIS. Then it will take another ~3 weeks for them to assign your case number and IIN. Since you have a lawyer, there won't be a DS261 (choice of agent) for you to fill out. Your Affidavit of Support fee, and Immigrant Fee will both invoice at the same time after you receive your case and IIN. Unfortunately you have around 4-5 weeks until you can really do anything because of the wait for NVC to receive/create your case and assign case number.

If you have a lawyer why do you worry? the whole reason for getting a lawyer is to have him/her handle everything to put you at ease. The lawyer you hired will simply follow the steps that you have read in the wiki page. If you feel you have hired a good lawyer then you have nothing to worry about. Best of luck !

Hello all. Just thought I would share my latest step; our scan date is Nov. 20th. I hope the Holidays won't effect the '35' day trend. Should I call on the 21st of December, or give it a few days/after Christmas?

No you send photocopies. Originals are to be brought to the interview.

We got approval from CSC on November 17. But when I check the USCIS website it still shows that date as the last activity on our case. Does this mean it hasn't been sent to the NVC yet? I thought they updated the USCIS site when they sent the case off to the NVC. It seems awful to think that absolutely nothing has happened for the last 20 days. Especially since most CSC cases have been taking 45 days and ours was over 100.

Is it possible it's been sent on a while ago? I hope so much that it was. It's so incredibly difficult here without my husband (I know it is for most of us). :'(

Call NVC Monday to see if they have received you. I know NSC its 7 to 10 days they send off and 14 to 17 days NVC receives.
