Ok, that ruins my theory..

Must be a Canadian think then..LOL..LOL

It was a good theory! I'm not sure if the country would play a difference in the emails, but I am betting it does have to do with the Christmas rush backing them up a bit. ):

I received one. I've seen quite a few people post that they did as well. Usually it's 5 days after they receive your documents, not sure if the holidays played a factor in you receiving it. Have you confirmed they have your email address?

Here's the exact document I received from them:

Dear Sir/Madam,

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your documents on 04-DEC-15. We are experiencing a high volume of incoming mail at this time. Please allow 30 days from the date we received your mail for the NVC to review your documents. We are diligently working to reduce our review time and appreciate your patience. The NVC will notify you after our review if there is additional information required or if we are able to schedule your case for an interview overseas.

No luck for me today! I got my I-864 all completed and ready to go, then I checked my email, lo and behold, theres my checklist (and coversheet). Well it also asks me to resubmit the Federal Tax Return - So, I went to the IRS website, annnnd, the service to get a copy of your tax transcript is down until Jan 11th.... Thats another 2 week delay on top of the checklist delay. Feeling a little peeved now!
