Well... Just received a checklist for a marriage termination document... The certificate of divorce was included with all the other documents. Boo. Guess I'll email it in again...

Did they want divorce docs for the petitioner or the beneficiary?

I was approved for expedited processing on wed 12/16. By fri 12/18, my case was at the consulate. I set up my husbands profile in us travel docs and set up his interview appointment for 1/19. How can I be added to the interview spreadsheet.

I sent an email request for NVC expedite today (both medical and financial reasons). We have paid all of our fees. We have not yet completed the DS-260 or sent in our AOS & IV packages.

Should we wait for a response about the expedite before doing anything else, or should we continue? I've read several pages of search results on VJ forums about NVC expedite and it seems that if you send your documents before the expedite is approved then you really save no time at all. Is this correct?

Amsterdam is a low fraud, low volume consulate, I believe, so I'm hoping to get a response quickly. I just don't want to shoot myself in the foot if I get an approval for the expedite.

Any knowledge that would help me make an informed decision is welcome!

Thank you.

What are the main reasons to go for NVC expedite?

I know generally they are: financial hardship, humanitarian reasons, military deployment, and (I'm not certain of this one but I believe) medical reasons.

I looked and Googled and looked and searched the NVC website. There is little information about expedite, but I see some people on VJ with similar issues have been approved so I took a shot. Here are my reasons without going into too much detail it's because of financial (I recently had to quit my job to care for my mother who is in home care hospice but only receives nurse visits once a week and doctor visits once a month) and secondary, health related (in October I was diagnosed with a rare illness that reduces my ability to do daily tasks making taking care of my mom and kids and home extremely difficult and it's detrimental to my health.) I went into more detail in the email, but I'm not comfortable sharing everything here.

Why do you ask? Are you thinking of applying for expedite?

No problem! I have gotten so much information from VJ that has helped me save time (even with a ridiculously uneducated lawyer on our case) that if I have any information to share I will because, whether I am approved or not, it could help someone else make a decision in the future.

Of course I will keep the forum advised when we get a decision.

Yes, the situation here is difficult, but if my husband could arrive sooner that would be a silver lining to this very dark cloud.

If that's the case, and not just another way of saying "just keep waiting" then it doesn't surprise me. If you think about it the started receiving approved petitions from an additional service center (Potomac) around the same time mine was approved in the middle of November. The uscis might be speeding up due to the new location, but it's probably going to create even more of a bottleneck at the NVC. I was afraid that would happen. Looks like it might?
