Our case has been received by the NVC. We don't have our case number yet. I want to pay and then send our packages as soon as possible. BUT, we have a lawyer (because of our joint sponsor) and he's been slowing the process for us.

Everytime we ask questions he just basically says "sit back and wait". For example when our case was approved by uscis he told us that there's nothing we can do until they contact us "in a couple of months". But I know it doesn't take that long to get the case number and invoice number.

I asked him what documents we need to collect (he is handling the sponsor documents because they actually know each other, which is the only reason we used a lawyer). He still hasn't answered.

I know we need tax information for me. I'm permanently disabled on SSDI. I have my 1099 forms for 2011-2014 and my statement of benefits for 2015. I have copies of my tax forms that I filed for 2012,2013,and 2014. I tried ordering tax transcripts, but they said they were "unavailable for that year" for each I tried requesting even though I filed taxes for those years. Are copies of my tax forms okay? Do I need w2's for the small amount of money I earned when I tried to return to work? Or do my forms not matter as much because the main thing is our sponsor?

I'm just very afraid we will lose time if I must get transcripts which for some reason I've been told are "unavailable". What would I do if I can't get them???

If anyone knows, or has had similar experience, please let me know what is necessary.

Thank you!

I called NVC today because I saw the 3 N/A online and !yes! they confirmed that my case was completed today, my Scan date was Oct 27 and it was placed on supervisor review on Nov 30.

Congrats Rosa!

And this is proof that we really have no idea if supervisor review is a good thing or not. Some people were put on it and had their CC the same day, or the next. For some others (like our case) it took 4-7 days. And then you have cases, like Rosa's here, that take almost two weeks.

It really seems like going for supervisor review is a gamble, as you may get lucky and get immediate results, or it may stretch for a few extra weeks. This point may need to be added to the wiki.

Tax forms with all the 1099's, W2's and schedules or tax transcripts so either or.

As far as time the good thing is with a lawyer your AOS and IV get invoiced together. You need to stress to your lawyer that once paid send in your AOS and IV packages ASAP. There's no waiting for NVC.

You can also keep calling NVC every few days to get Case# and IIN. You paid the lawyer which means they work for you. A call of "I got case# so do you want to pay the fee or I go ahead with it">

Here's the NVC Process wiki again maybe they need to read.

Thank you dwheels76!

I better start scrambling to get my w2's together. I've moved so far so many times I don't think I still have them. Will need to get them from my employer.

I think if I sent the link to our lawyer he could learn a thing or 12. But most likely he would just put our case in the bottom drawer of his desk for a few weeks for spite. :-(

The NVC stage does feel better at this point than the uscis did though. I feel like there's a better idea of time remaining and I see other people making progress there. It makes it feel more bearable.

Hey, you should call after the 30 days they specify, but looking at the public holidays coming up, I'd day call around the 07th January 2016, if they haven't made contact by then.

We asked our lawyer if he was preparing our AOS and IV packets. His answer was essentially we have plenty of time to think about that, and "The fee invoices probably will not come until January or February from the NVC."

Seriously?!?

I called today at 7:45. We were assigned a case # Friday and our bill was generated this morning. I got both of the numbers from an extremely helpful operator at the NVC. She even told us how we could take the lawyer off of our case. Lol. . (Oh I wish!)

We will be paying tomorrow. (husband has to transfer the money we saved to my US account and that takes 1 business day.)

I hope so much that he doesn't drag his feet and cost us more time! It's so FRUSTRATING! I really think there's no reason we can't have our packages sent out before Christmas. That's really really really all I want for Christmas... A speedy cc and a March interview!

Soon as you pay AOS fee you can send both packages out. So that should happen any minute now. Your IV fee will be invoiced at same time so you could very well have case complete in 30 days from sending your packages.
