Hi, just started reading this thread as we got a case number yesterday and completed 261 and paid AOS fee. Am I understanding correctly after reading some posts here that I can go ahead and send our document packets now?? I was thinking it was after we completed 260. I wasn't sure if they send a checklist specific to your circumstances or you just send the ones that apply to you. I've had the packets ready for a month now (haha) and have just been waiting for the checklist. Our case has taken so long that I'm afraid I'm getting too excited that things are actually happening and I don't want to mess up now by skipping a step somewhere...

Thanks for any replies and good luck to you all!

I believe our friend SoerenHelmer inadvertently discovered a way to enable NVC to notify the applicants via EMAIL when a CASE and INVOICE ID numbers are available, I believe this is a great feature that if validated by other members and moderators it should added as an 'Official VJ advice" and/or edit Saylin's NVC Wiki guide. (According to her guide NVC does not contact applicants when their case/invoice numbers are available). I also believe that regardless if you filed or not a G-1145 with a USCIS, USCIS will not forward or share that form with NVC, therefore NVC can not contact you electronically prior to completion of DS-261.

So the solution is to send an email to NVC about a week after they received your package from USCIS:

This is the link: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/contact.html

Use the first option to inquire and inform them about your email address, (note: the second option is for inquiries after CC).

SoerenHelmer was notified electronically about his case number. I followed his advice and emailed NVC like 4 days ago.

I just happen to call few hours after NVC assigned my numbers, but the next day I received 2 emails from ASKnvc@state.gov , both were Welcome Letters, one addressed to my wife and the other to me. Both letters have the case and invoice numbers, mine was longer because it also had the AOS Invoice. Both have a DOCUMENT COVER SHEET that has me confused because it lists everything together, by that I mean the AOS documents and the IV documents. Can somebody explain that list to me? I also received another DOCUMENT COVER SHEET for the AOS only after I payed the AOS fee.

QUESTION:When I pay the IV fee, will I get a separate DOCUMENT COVER SHEET for the IV package?

I am really concerned about this long list of items on the aforementioned combined document cover sheet that came along with welcome letter.

These are the items on the combined cover sheet:

They are divided in 4 sections and for each item you have to check either ENCLOSED, UNAVAILABLE or Not Applicable.

1. DOCUMENT COVER SHEET

2. ORIGINAL, signed AOS.

3. Photocopies of Financial Documents

IRS transcripts

Federal returns

W2

Evidence of income

Proof of relationship

Proof of US Satus

Social Security Earning Statement

Proof of Assets.

4. Photocopies of Supporting Documents:

Adoption

Birth Certificates

Military Records

Petitioner Documents

Valid unexpired passport

Police certificates

Any November scan date got CC yesterday or today? Scan date 6 November still patiently waiting..

Hey bookman, scan date 11/05 here and still waiting as well. Some people with scan dates of 11/04 or 11/03 got CC's earlier this week, so hopefully our turns would be coming along soon.

Ok I literally just clicked "Add Post" for my previous reply above (to bookman), then switched tabs in my browser and saw a 3rd N/A!!! :joy:

Wooooohhoooooo!!! Now to call to confirm that it's a CC.

Congratulations on your CC. Just looked at your timeline and you were doing really good up until NVC received your case December last year. Why is it taking you a year to complete your case at NVC ?

Between a "stuck" account, and the NVC taking time to make payments available, as well as sorting out some tax filing issues that needed clarification, and that we had to get certain papers filled out with our joint sponsor... all of these issues sort of just piled up over each other and before you know it a whole year had passed.

... now the (next) wait begins for the interview date.
