Veteran Shot at Planned Parenthood Ran Back Inside Building to Warn Others Before He DiedInside Edition

One of the victims of Friday's Planned Parenthoodshooting is being hailed a hero by family members who say he ran back into the building after being shot in order to warn others to take cover.

Ke'Arre Stewart, an Army veteran and father of two, was outside the Colorado women's clinic when shots first rang out and the 29-year-old was hit.

Despite his injuries, Stewart's brother says the Iraq War vet's military instinct kicked in and he went inside the building to warn others of the impending assault.

"Leave no soldier behind, leave no civilian behind, just leave no one behind," Stewart's brother, Leyonte Chandler, told NBC News. "So he ran back inside, trying to help out others. I don't know where he was at, as far as how many more breaths he had, but he knew.

"And before his time ran out I guess that was his main priority... to help and save other lives."

Chandler said his brother is absolutely a hero.

"People were terrified, people were crying and scared, seeing other people get shot I believe my brother put his life on the line to prevent that. That's definitely heroic," he said.

People inside the clinic, which provides women's health services including abortions, ran for cover and barricaded themselves inside rooms. None of the clinic's employees were killed.

Tronda Stewart, who identified herself as Stewarts aunt to the Washington Post, told the paper her nephew was an "entrepreneur."

"He was always trying to make things better for him and his family, she said.

Also on Sunday, the father of Jennifer Markovsky revealed his 36-year-old daughter--a wife and mother of two--was the third victim.

John Ah-King told the Denver Post that his daughter was accompanying a friend to the clinic when she was killed in the attack.

"I couldn't believe it," Ah-King said. "I just messaged her Thursday to say happy Thanksgiving."

University of Colorado police officer Garrett Swasey, 44, was identified as the cop who died. He was an active member of his church, a former pastor, and a former competitive ice skater.

Swasey leaves behind his wife, Rachel, as well as a son and daughter.

Arrested following the hours-long stand-off was Robert L. Dear, who police say laid siege to the building and remained holed up in the clinic for several hours in a tense standoff with police.

Dear is set to appear in court on Monday afternoon.

Authorities would not say if anti-abortion ideology was behind the shooting, nor did police say if the Planned Parenthood was the scene of the attack for any specific reason.

However, officials have revealed that Dear told them "no more baby parts" during an interrogation. They also say he made comments about President Obama.

Dear allegedly held the clinic hostage for some five hours during which he made no attempt to communicate to officers outside the building, who could hear intermittent gunfire inside. Five officers were injured and hospitalized in good condition
