Are the case officers generally non-Vietnamese Americans? Do they speak and read Vietnamese? If they have translators, are the translators Vietnamese or Vietnamese Americans?

After reviewing the copy of the submitted 140 pages I129 application, I saw one line in my 40 pages of emails that could cause misunderstandings if the case officer reads and understands it. What is the chance that the case officer will read this line? I also have 50 pages of Skype.

And yes, my relationship with my fiance is genuine. I do have a complicated marriage history with a prior successful petition of a spouse 13 years ago who I divorced in 2009. I remarried a USC in 2012 and divorced again in mid 2015. I am now a single dad with my child living with me.

Its all up to them sometimes they just browser ur paperwork but as long as this is genuine, your other evidences will prove them. I just wonder why do you submit that much of email and skype history chat. From my opinion, I just choose 2 pages for each month. On-going relationship evidence is more sufficient from beneficiary side in Vietnamese consulate.

I think you are thinking into it a bit much if there is one line out of 140 pages that "could cause misunderstandings" if the case officer is Vietnamese. They are honestly probably not going to take more than a 30 second glance at the entire stack of emails, but if you are really worried, you could just omit that page. Either way, I would relax knowing that your relationship is genuine.

Yes, there are Vietnamese nationals working at the Consulate who would read and translate if needed.

You're reading too much into it, John. It is a long process (or waiting game) and it may help if you find something else to do (like a new hobby) to kill time while waiting for the interview. I did and it really helped.

Btw, don't feel bad about having that many pages. Some people front-load their I-129, some don't, and nobody is right or has the right answer. Each individual case is different. What all comes down to is how the CO sees the relationship.

I had the same worry - whether I should translate chats and texts into English. I wrote to our embassy and they answered to me they will accept those in Russian - the language my and my husband communicate in.

Oh thank you all. I think I worry too much. I translated and notarized everything except the skype chat log and email. I "front loaded" emails and skype chat logs as suggested by many in this forum.

Also, a reminder that your beneficiary does not have to translate anything to English when she submits her required documents for the interview. As long as they ar in Vietnamese they will accept it.
