On Tuesday, they were turning people away who came too early. While I was waiting for security, one woman was told to come back at 9am (it was already 8.15, so they seem to be quite strict). The line moved pretty fast, so I would suggest lining up at 9.30 for a 10am appointment. Good luck.

Okay I won't go early then as I guess they probably won't let me in.

For evidence of relationship, for things that I am printing out, do I need to bring two copies? Like I am bringing some phone records that I printed from PDF, should I take two copies if I don't care about getting it back?

I understand for like a birth certificate they want to see the original and also get a copy of it. But that is stuff I want the original back for.

I understand for like a birth certificate they want to see the original and also get a copy of it. But that is stuff I want the original back for.

All they wanted from me was to see the originals of the important documents - birth certificate, marriage certificate, military record, police certificates, I-864, tax transcript, pictures, and work permit. They kept the police certificates, I-864, and tax transcript - everything else was handed back. I had photocopies of everything but they weren't required. And for proof of domicile, I had a bunch of "original" paperwork (mostly printouts of online bills). Like you, I didn't care about getting these back, so only took the one copy. I wasn't asked for them, so I can can't say for sure, but I doubt they'll want a second copy.

I think the second copy is more so that you know exactly what it is you gave them. and if it comes up later for some reason, you can send another exact duplicate.

Broppy. Could you please share what questions they asked? Thanks

My interview was the same day as Broppy.

They asked for the following

1. Confirmation or receipt of payment of interview

2. Long form birth certificate.

3. Police record check documents - originals

4. My fiancées intent to marry letter, dated wry in 30 days of interview

5. I-134 support form and documentation to back it up. We provided a copy of the 2014 tax return, most recent pay stub.

6. Copy of a lease agreement or mortgage of where we will be living.

7. I also had to provide my fiancées divorce documents from her previous marriage.

8. 2 passport photos

9. And the medical folder

After that was done it was on to the interview, and I was asked

1. Where and when we met.

2. What brought us to the place we met

3. And was I excited to be moving and getting married.

After that I was told welcome and given 2 documents, one was a welcome letter, the other was a how to track my visa.

Good luck.

I was only asked the basics - had I ever had a problem crossing the border, had I ever stayed longer than six months (a mistake - as a Brit, I only get to visit for 90 days at a time), and how did my wife and I meet. After that, it rapidly degenerated into moaning about the weather. It's the officer's first winter up north, and he was not impressed with coming to work in -15 or so that morning (at least he didn't have to stand outside in line to get in to the building).

Had my interview today. I think it went well. I was approved.

They didn't ask me that much. I had way more documents then I needed but better to have them.

Had to submit some updated info when there because of changes in I-864 and my new passport.

Once I had given everything over at the first window, went back to wait. Maybe another 15-30 minutes.

When called to the room the guy was very nice. Another family tried to follow me in because they thought they called their number (didn't speak English very well).

Questions were mostly basic. Asked about any issues with law enforcement, customs, any over stay in the US, how I meet my wife and when, when we got married, kids. And I think that was it...was kinda a blur. He told me that I was approved. I thanked him, said I would shake his hand if I could. I asked that was it, we should be good and he told me us that was it and everything should be fine unless I had some criminal record or something but otherwise no problem.

He gave me back my originals and kept my passport and the police certificate (only realized now, not sure that is normal but whatever).

I looked online at my status for fun and it already says "Issued" but then says that I am in administrative processing.

Is that the normal progression of the status online after the interview? I didn't think it would change to Issued right away with the administrative processing part. Text is:

"Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. As the officer told you in the interview, if further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved when administrative processing is finished, you will receive notification to collect the passport with the visa from the Loomis branch you selected when you booked your appointment."

Is that normal? I'm kinda worried seeing that.

Don't worry. That seems to be consulate-speak for "we're printing it now". Mine said the same thing yesterday, and now I've got the Canada Post tracking number.

Thanks broppy.

I checked today and the update date has change to today. It still shows "Issued" but now I see:

"Your visa is in final processing. If you have not received it in more than five (5) working days, please go to http://usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/us_courrier_information to track your courier waybill."

Hopefully that is a good sign!
