Hey everyone,

So really hoping to get an interview in January as it has been a pretty rough NVC journey and if we don't i think it is going to be rough on my family waiting for me.

Does anyone have any idea when they start scheduling the interviews for the next month in Montreal? Is it at the beginning of the month or?

I booked my interview mid November for January 22 and there were only a few spots left at the time unfortunately. Sadly Montreal seems to be very full and I think it'll take a while to get an interview! :(

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your troubles at the NVC but at least your case is complete! Waiting at the NVC is the hardest part of the whole process in my opinion. For Canadian CR1/IR1s, the general trend seems to be an interview date roughly 1.5-2 months after your case has been completed. I don't know if this will change because of the holidays. That being said, once you actually receive your interview date and your CEAC status shows that your case is at the consulate, you can email the consulate and request an earlier date if they have one. This is what an NVC supervisor told me to do. I didn't actually do it because my interview date worked well for my schedule. Good luck :)

I waiting right along with you brentos. We received our CC the day before you.

Hopefully we both hear soon! It will be the 12th month for me in January since starting the process.

I have been thinking of trying to submit an expedite because they lost stuff (we were about to when we got case complete) but I am worried it will either take too much time for them to decide and make it worse (who knows with anything at the NVC, they will probably stop processing us until they hear back) or they will try to schedule me for the two weeks I am gone to visit my family in the US (not to likely but there are some work days those two weeks of Christmas). If we don't get an interview, dunno my wife isn't going to be happy and it will be tough financially.

If you request an expedite, it will be sent to the Consulate in any case to be approved so I don't know how much of a difference it will make in your case since it has already been completed. Something I forgot to mention is that there is often a delay of a few weeks between when the NVC has scheduled your interview at the consulate and when you receive the case complete email with your interview date. My case was completed in early September but I only received an email with the interview date at the end of the month (they aim to give you at least 30 days notice to prepare everything). However, once I called the NVC in mid-September to clarify something and to my surprise, the agent said I already had an interview date scheduled. Try calling the NVC and asking if they've already set your interview date.

I have a question and I apologize if it's a stupid one, but I can't find the specific answer. For the interview, is one scheduled for you or do you have to schedule your own? I have seen both scenarios on here and just wondering what actually happens. Any info is greatly appreciated :)

For IR1/CR1 thr NVC schedules your interview for you.

K1 schedule their own interviews however both Montréal and Vancouver often have periods where no interview dates are available for months at a time.

I'm on hold now waiting to talk to someone, had trouble getting through tonight.

I am excited that hopefully we have a date but now worried I will be disappointed...guess I just have to wait and see...
