Yeah I know a denied K1 is a dead end. But if you sense that there is something special they ask a lot about in that interview, something that they seem to question more then that could be a good thing to look over before the cr1 interview...

After getting engaged and coming home in 2012 we have been talking on the phone at least twice a day everyday. From that day on we just stayed committed to each other. When I first met her in person it only took me a few days to realize that she's a good girl to make my wife. She was kind smart funny and knew how to cook. Didn't take me long to make up my mind. From that day on I stayed true to my word. We are battling through this.

I couldn't fix the it really because I think the reason for denial on the K1 was that we engaged the first time we met. But we did talk on the phone for roughly a month and Half before meeting in person.

That is the number one reason for denial at this embassy. As soon as they ask this question, generally 3rd or 4th question and you answer you did get engaged on first visit, then that's it. They will focus on you interrogate you like a criminal. I witnessed this many times. They spend 15/20 minutes on this same question again and again, go around the room, laugh at you and keep ask how could you make such a decision after just meeting a person? They talk to each other inside glass window and laugh all together try to intimidate you. Doesn't matter how much evidence you have or how many times more you visited or how long you communicated with each other before first visit. It's the first visit engagement they go after. Somehow they did not focus on that to myself. Actually they did not focus on any questions to us. That's why I am still puzzled to this day why they denied us back in 2011. He was so friendly and making joke with us talking like a friend. He did make some uncomfortable comments time to time during interview though. Like as soon as he saw both of us he looked from top to bottom and made a very racist comment. You people don't look alike. He meant we were different race. There are few other comments he made during interview which were very offensive. All of a sudden he would say Oh you have different religion!! How would that work? Or he would say, you people culturally different, speak different language, eat different food why would you want to marry each other? All those comments he made are forbidden if it's inside the US but those people at the embassy are above the US domestic law. They have ultimate power on this matter and use or miss use it. You cannot complain or protest to take a risk on permanent ban on visa.

Since you got engaged on first visit, it's done and no way to fix that. But you did get married which is another story in Cambodia. It's actually harder process then visa process itself. For a US Citizen to marry a Cambodian there are many restrictions. Need to get permission from ministry of foreign affairs and petitioner actually has to be physically present during process which could take more then a month. Many interviews with gov't officials and bribes every step of the way between $1200 to $2000. Not to mention you have to have at least $2600 monthly income and of course under 50 years of age. Since you went through that process and denied once before as K-1, US Embassy will try their best to approve your visa. If I were you I would still ask my senators help which I did on my CR-1 interview. Both of my senators were very helpful and were constantly inquiring on behalf of me and informing me of all and every correspondent they made with US Embassy and also the reply from Embassy to them. I actually saw printout of senators email to embassy on my wife's file once CO started the interview and opened the file because I was right there holding my wife's hand next to her. It was a do or die time after almost 4 years of struggle and there was no tomorrow. I brought everything but kitchen sink and was prepared to do anything that day to get her visa approved. We were prepared for a battle but surprisingly it was incredibly easy and we were treated like VIP. Just a few hello and how are you bla bla bla and how many times I visited her. When the answer was 8 times that was it and done. He actually apologized to both of us(different CO) for not approving us first time. We came out of the embassy like wining hero because those days getting approval at this embassy was a rare thing. Sometimes no approval in whole week and I am talking about 30/40 people giving interview each day!
