K&K M, if you read Sekhvaruli's post about her husband's interview (which happened 2 days ago i belive), you'll see that they heard when another person was denied because he didn't knew anything about his wife's previous marriage.

I know it might be hard to talk about it, but is that a reason worth jeopardizing your wife's/husband's interview?

Thats tragic. I think i missed Sekharavuli post. Where can i read it?

I've seen a few comments recently about interview questions pertaining to previous marriages. I am the petitioner and my husband knows I was married before but we never got into any of details, as I like to leave the past in the past.

Should I be giving him more details for the interview? Do these questions come up often?

You better. We have just witnessed the gentleman was denied a spouse visa in Tbilisi embassy, and my husband heard him being asked about his wife's exes. He didn't have the answer.

That means your documents were sent to the embassy by NVC and will be there in a day or 2. Then the message will change to READY.

APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!! Hubby had his interview this morning at Lagos Embassy and was approved....we are so happy and excited, according to my husband the interview went quick (2mins) he was asked a few questions. He also mentioned that the CO stated that the way I packed the documents was exceptional. My husband was asked the following and told to pick his visa up in 2weeks. He did mention that the wait was very long his interview was scheduled for 8am but didn’t get interviewed until after 1pm

Who petitioned for you?

What does your wife do?

Where and what did you wife study in college?

What type of wedding did you do?

How many siblings does your wife have?

How many siblings before her?

How many boys and girls?

She asked for the original birth certificate and police clearance and told my husband that he is approved.

Hubby stated the lady was very nice and didn’t even ask to see pictures or any of our correspondences.

Congratulations. Glad to hear the interview went smoothly. Looks like you guys were well prepared.

Hey guys! Just an update! I called on Tuesday, because a month had already gone by since they requested my marriage certificate stating that it was the only thing missing. I sent it expedited and was told they received it on 10-30-2015. When I called on Tuesday 12-2-15 I was told it would be escalated to a supervisor because they hadn't reviewed the marriage certificate, and I was scared because I saw that it could take up to 42 days for them to review. But guess what! Just called and CC today! Just two days after, so have hope! Does anyone have an idea of when I should be hearing about the interview?

Luck dust for everyone!!!

Did your husband know the details at the time of interview? Ughh, I hate to even think about it, never mind talk about it.

I wonder if, he truthfully answers I don't know, could we get denied for something like that?

Couples who apply for a K1, IR1 or CR1 are unfortunately held to a higher standard than the rest of the population. We're expected to know more about each other than a huge lot of other couples do. I know so many people who can't remember the name of their spouse's ex, let alone the details. My husband and I didn't spend much time dwelling on my previous marriage. When we applied for the K1, I figured it was time to have a chat about the sticky past. I didn't want to risk my husband having to reply, "I don't know" to any questions.

You don't need to go into long details with your husband about your past spouse. Just tell him the consulate may ask questions like the name of your ex, how long you were married, did you have any children together, who filed for divorce and what went wrong. Those were the things my husband was asked. When he was asked what went wrong, he said, "Her husband was abusive to her and the children so she finally divorced him". Then the consulate asked him if I was receiving child support and how much. After all that, the consulate moved on to other subjects. Maybe some consulates don't ask questions about divorces, but since it happened in our case, I assume it's a very good idea for the applicant to have answers just in case.

Some consulates may deny a visa for an "I don't know" answer. It all depends on the consulate
