Good Day

I am from Oregon and I'm a permanent resident applying to be a US citizen. Last month I had my interview and passed the knowledge test, but they couldn't make a decision right away for my interview and asked for RFE, thats due on December 2nd. So basically in couple days. I sent the additional evidence on November 25 and when I checked where it was at on November 29 it said that the addressee refused my mail twice on November 27 and it was being sent back. So I called USPS and they contacted the postmaster in Portland and he gave me a call and said that the substitute postmaster in my local post office did not put enough postage!!! I contacted the USCIS and the man that I talked to sent an email to the higher ups about it and they said I won't hear from them til December 5th. I called USCIS again to ask what to do because USPS dont know where the mail is right now and its not in my post office for me to send it back again. The lady on the phone said they don't do an rfe extension and I know if they dont receive it by that date I'll automatically get rejected. And it's frustrating since it wasn't even my mistake and Portland is 4 hours away from me and I still don't even have my mail back. What can I do? Should I just send it again anyway even though it'l be past due? or can I make an appointment with the officer and give it to him and plead my case? Thank you
