I-864 vs I-864EZ... did I mess up?

Hey all,

I just submitted our concurrent filing packet yesterday (I-130,I-485,I-765) to the Chicago lockbox.

I am employed full time and my income is on my W2s. I didn't use the I-864EZ as it wasn't listed in the guide, so I just used the regular I-864. I read now that I could have used the I-864EZ. This won't be a problem will it?

I submitted my most recent tax return, paystub (showing YTD income), W2s as well (like that the I-864 asked for. I just want to make sure that using the I-864 and not the I-864EZ won't be a big deal. I hope not!

The petition was just for my spouse who is here on a J1 (no two year requirement) and I am the only sponsor.

01/19/2017 - New medical dropped off at USCIS & CASE APPROVED ! I-485 & I-130

01/25/2017 - GREEN CARD IN HAND! - DONE!!!!!!!

Thank you so much, one other question... since my spouse who is the beneficiary that I'm sponsoring is getting income from his University that he teaches at now while on his J-1 why was his income never asked for on the I-864 or anywhere else? Do we just bring that to the interview meeting? It's not like we need it for the I-864 as I make enough to cover both of us.

You are the sponsor. If your income is enough, it's not necessary to count anyone else's income.

Thank you very much! It's just very strange, you'd think they'd want that type of information on the person being sponsored.

Dang, I filled out a i-864EZ. I only submitted my tax transcript for the recent tax year and 6 recent pay stubs. I hope that'll be alright.

03/06/2015: SO came in on B2 Visa (expired 12/05/2015)

08/21/2015: Married in Los Angeles, CA

12/05/2015: Sent I-130, I-485, I-131, I-765 to Chicago, IL

12/13/2015: NOA1 for I-130, I-485, I-131, I-765

01/04/2016: Biometrics for AOS *completed*

01/28/2016: Biometrics for EAD/AP *completed*

02/19/2016: I-765 - EAD Card in Production
