Hello!

I've recently discovered this website thru Reddit on a long distance relationship sub. So I signed up tonight to ask a question or a variety of questions later on.

I'm a male U.S Citizen and my fiancee is living here in Mexico, of course she's not allowed to come with me to the United States until she's granted access to pass with a visa.

Long story short, I have visit her for the past 2 years here in Mexico. We dated for one year in the US when she decided to go back to Mexico.

This coming up Wednesday (Dec 2), we will be getting married at the Mexican/U.S International Bridge. I really don't understand all of these procedures and it's really my fault for not studying closely enough to have an educated mind towards this topic to which is why I'm here. This is something that my fiancee wants to do so I'm happy to oblige.

So my questions are, will a DCF process be the best one for us after getting married? And is it really necessary to hire a lawyer after getting married to help us in any way possible for her to get a visa?

Again, I'm new to this and it's finally time to educate myself. I feel I have little time to learn everything.

Thank you for helping me or directing me in the right stressful/exciting path.

The best thing for you to do is start by reading through our guides:

http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1(for non-DCF)

http://www.visajourney.com/content/dcf(for DCF)

If you can comprehend the information in the guides, then you don't need to spend money on a lawyer. Almost everyone on this website has gone through the process without one.

Once you've read the guides and understood the difference between DCF and filing the I-130 for CR-1 while you are in the US, you should be able to make a decision. Generally, however, DCF is the fastest route so long as you meet the residency requirements in Mexico. If you aren't resident in Mexico, you'll need to follow the first linked guide.
