i'm leaving Australia on the 15th!

what should i expect when i arrive in LA?
do i have to go through a specific line?
is it just a normal customs (through a window/booth type thing to do finger prints) ?
do you have another interview or does it depend on the customs officer if they want to question you further?

i have given myself a 4 hour lay over before i go to NY just in case but id love to know what to expect!

My POE was LA, though it was a while ago now! I went through the normal line for visitors/visa holders. Just like I would for the VWP. It only took a couple of minutes for the CBP officer to take my packet and stamp my passport/visa. No secondary inspection. It was a very busy time of day though and lining up took forever, I almost missed my connecting flight.

Not sure if you saw this link already and I also wrote a POE review for LAX.

It's the same line you go thru with the ESTA and it really only took an extra minute or two due to the officer flipping thru the contents of the yellow envelope.

I flew the QF11 flight from Sydney arriving in LA approx 630am and it wasn't busy at all- I made it back onto the same flight for the next leg to NYC; I didn't make any allowances for delay and in the end it wasn't necessary - so I guess it's a risk to weigh up depending on what time your flight first gets into LA. I flew on a Monday.

Enjoy!
