How do you know if visa is approved

Hi,

My fiancee just finished her interview and her passport was taken.

She left the embassy after they took her passport.

Was this the last step of the process?

Is this an indication of an approved visa?

Thank you.

Usually, they say if you are approved or not. When I had mine, he stamped my packet and said I was approved. The CO also gave me a pamphlet about the rights of the immigrants. You can check it at CEAC to see the status. My passport was also taken. Was she asked to fill-up something for 2go? That is an indication of the approval but you can never be sure unless she was told that she was approved and has the visa on hand.

We have not had our interview yet, but I assume that if nothing was said after the interview (no 221g) that she had been approved. Will let others confirm.

I've already seen several posts asking the same question, and I find it a bit strange that people leave the interviews unsure of the outcome. I plan to ask my fiance to ask the interviewer for a positive confirmation at the end of the interview if there is any uncertainty in her mind. Would this be okay?

That is totally okay. I asked it when I had my interview. The CO handed the pamphlet(about immigrant rights) first then I asked if that means I am approved, he said NO then he stamped my packet and said "this means you are approved!". So it's okay to ask. :)

I attended my fiance's interview a week ago. The interview volunteered that she was approved. However, there is also some language about a final review of the file. When the CEAC status changes to "Issued" (4 days after the interview for us), I took that as the final word that we had cleared that hurdle. Of course, there is still the uncertainty of when the passport with visa will arrive, and passing the CFO. For us, the CFO comes this week. (We opted for the CFO before getting the visa to reduce uncertainty and speed the process, at the cost of getting the CFO sticker separately, later, at Manila airport.) Incidentally, the CFO desk at Terminal 3 (Delta, Cebu Pacific, PAL domestic) is open shorter hours than the CFO desk at the International Terminal.

Thank for for updating your timeline. (My Assistant, then edit/add my timeline.)

The final approval is taking place now. After the interview they have a once over to tie things up, if you will. If all is ok then you will be issued your visa. It's ok to ask at the interview if you are approved or not. The fact that they keep the passport is a sure sign that you have a high percent of being issued a visa.

DO NOT quit your job, sell you belongings, or buy a plane ticket until the visa is in your hands. No one can say with any certainty that you are approved or when you will receive your visa. We have seen visa's issued as soon as the next day and some are waiting 9 months afterwards. Normal turnaround is about two weeks.

Safe travels and congratulations.

When I had my interview the CO said "documents look good and I have no further question" she hand me a pamphlet as well..give brief instruction about calling 911 for any abuse and said it will not affect my visa status then told me to proceed to window 5 where the lady told me to go home and just wait for my visa. Confuse if I'm approve but from what I learned if they took ur passport it's a good sign. It's been 4 days today and we are praying for the best :)

You won't know the visa is "officially approved" until you see ISSUED on the CEAC website.

It can still be a few weeks before you see the visa.
