Does this new message @ NVC mean anything??

Hi everyone - About two weeks ago, I checked my case status on the NVC website and it basically had a generic message stating to basically follow the instructions that had been sent. I'm assuming that this is the instructions that where were provided shortly after approval of my case @ USCIS which stated to basically wait for a visa and not make any life changes (ie: don't sell your house, leave your job, etc..) until a visa has been issued. However, today when I checked my case status on the NVC website, I saw this new message:

"Please follow the instructions you received from the National Visa Center (NVC) that list the six steps you must take before NVC can schedule your visa interview appointment. This includes submitting to NVC various fees, forms and documents. Once NVC has received all the required items, they will let you know if anything is missing or incomplete. You can also find these instructions online at http://nvc.state.gov (English) and http://nvc.state.gov/espanol (Spanish). You will find contact information for NVC at http://nvc.state.gov/ask."

I'm a little confused here. Is this a new generic message that is being presented to everyone who is checking their status at NVC? OR, is a visa available (or soon to be available), and I need to actually take action? I haven't received anything in the mail, but I'm not sure if I'm even supposed to be. Can someone please help me understand what is going on?

Much appreciated, thank you all in advance :)

It seems to be the new message being displayed because that is also what I see when I check my case status. I have yet to get confirmation of a case complete from NVC on phone nor any 3 N/A, so I doubt file is ready for interview scheduling.

Well as long as you're not from Mexico or the Philippines you shouldn't have too long of a wait since they're on Apr 08. :)

As for the message, I'm unsure if it's new or not. I wanted to see what your class and priority date was because maybe you can start NVC processing but it doesn't look like it yet. I haven't had to deal with the NVC in a few years so I'm not up to date on the process anymore.

hi

looks like an error message, nothing is going to happen for now, your parent in the future will start receiving emails from NVC

the best thing to do is check every month the visa bulletin

it will tell you how far in advance immigration could contact the petitioner

Thank you for your assistance. My understanding of the NVC dates are a little blurred. I understand that they are working on Apr 08 (I'm in Canada so no worries there). However, I was under the impression that some paper work would be sent out prior to that date because there is anticipation from the NVC that a visa will soon be available. How far in advance they send the paper work is where my confusion is.

They do not send the paperwork. You must fill out the items online and either email or mail the rest.

I have a feeling you do the same documentation that the spousal visas do if you want to look that up on VJ

hi

it's a hit and miss

some have to wait until their priority date becomes current, and then nvc contacts the petitioner, and some get lucky, up to a year or two before the priority date becomes current

you'll just have to wait and see, each case is different

My apologies if my last post was not clear. What I meant to say was that I was expecting some correspondence to initiate next steps as my priority date is soon approaching. For example, the web URL you provided states the floowing: "...when an applicant’s priority date meets the most recent qualifying date, the NVC will instruct the applicant to complete Form DS-26". I guess my questions are, when should I be filling out Form DS-26, and how will I be communicated?

Furthermore, is there a way to set-up auto e-mail notifications anytime there is progress made on my case by the NVC?

Thank you in advance

No they will email you when it's time to start doing paperwork.

I agree. I know a few people that have had theirs come up before the priority date, and others that have had to wait until the date of. I just didn't know if there was more to it that I was unaware of.

But my parent would of had to set up an e-mail for NVC to do that, and I know for a fact my mother hasn't done that. How would we go about setting one up for her with NVC?
