I would like to know what if you are a second spouse of your wife and you dont know her ex. Reason for asking that is I was browsing the sample interview questions here and it included few related to the ex spouse of your husband or wife. What if you dont know your wife ex-husband or more appropriately you dont wana know about him due to any reason will it be a negative thing to tell the interview that you dont know your wife ex-husband or his name and whereabouts and what was the reason for their break up? Secondly is it true as I have heard that the interview of people with second marriages is usually difficult than those of with first marriage. Another thing my wife is been living in states for more than one year and half and in between that period she hasnt visited me due to the fact she is completing her studies and she cant take leave as she was already being out of states for three years while she was studying and due to that she has to repay a study loan and she took readmission with so much difficulty her councilor said she cannot take leave till she completes her degree so i was wondering being away from me in that period would it put any negative impact on the interviewer or not. Thanks

If you don;t know exact details, such as where the person now lives, that should not be a major issue. But it is normal to know about your spouses background, and that includes the name of their ex-spouse, how long they were married, and why/ when they divorced. You will most likely be asked about this, especially if the divorce is recent (last few years), or the previous spouse was also involved in an immigration case. It may be a little uncomfortable for you to find out they got divorced because your now-wife cheated or that they were happily married for ten years or whatever, but that is better than not getting the visa, right?

While many couples cannot meet often due to work and finances, the more visits and "face time" the better. Have you made efforts to go visit her, for example? Make an extra effort to show how much you communicate in other ways, such as phone bills, email record etc.

Usman,

Bro don't think too much and stop applying various scenarios on yourself. There is a reason behind extra questions from consulate officer or adjudication officer if they notice the petitioner has filed petitions in the past and office just want to make sure petitioner is not doing fraud. Genuine cases do get approved even if petitioner has filed for the previous spouse and end up in divorce and remarrying overseas again and applying again for the new spouse. If your spouse is doing an immigration fraud then you really need to worry since they grill you and ban you for immigration benefits and your spouse will face some punishment.

No issues at all if you spouse can't visit your for any reasons or hardship on her etc.

I think knowing your wife's ex-husband's name is pretty standard. I mean it's bound to come up at some point in a conversation during your relationship. If you don't know it, I suggest you find out the name and reason for divorce before your interview.

Lots of people can't visit often for various reasons, so I doubt that'll be an issue, assuming you have other strong bona fida proof such as phone records, email and chat logs etc.

Thank you all of you for responding in such detail. Well I know it is pretty logical to know about your wife's ex and I totally agree what you all said regarding that. And i know the interviewer will likely to ask me that question since she also sponsored his immigration and that was in 2011 or 2012 and in the same year they got divorced too. And regarding visits well i don't have phone bill because we normally talk on Whats app or line so should i print out the text details along with call times would it be of any help in the interview. Thanks

Take the screen shot of your viber, whatsapp, skype conversation and take the color print outs with you and make sure take the print of any emails that you guys exchanged, cards and the gifts as well. Take only the pictures of gifts. Now you mentioned your spouse sponsored her first husband and you must know his name and reason of divorce. Make sure the give the same reason that was in the divorce decree that your wife has submitted at the time of I-130.

Yes, you need to take the screen shot of call duration from WhatsApp as well and you can sell the listing of you calls once you click on 'Calls' tab. In viber and in skype call duration can be seen in the same screen where we exchange messages.

I was married and applied for my wife's immigrant visa but later on our marriage couldn't go well and we got divorced, so i withdraw my petition after divorce. Last year i got married again and applied for my wife's immigrant visa again, at the interview they asked my wife "is it ur husbands first marriage, she said no he was married before but got divorced then they asked divorce date and thats it, her petition was approved and she got her visa. So don't be scared about second marriage, they will approve you if your case is genuine.
