The Chinese have been dealing with slavery for pretty much their existence.

I'm talking about here in the US.

So the Chinese endured over 400 years of slavery AND 100 years of segregation?

now you are moving the goal posts around.

Nope, just asking for clarification.

It's a known fact that many immigrants come here and thrive with little to no issues. That's because they're not dealing with the same stigmas we've had placed on us.

no clarification needed. you asked

Not being rude, but which ethnic group in America has endured slavery and made a full recovery?

Because I can only think of two. Native Americans and Black people.

he provided a third group you did not consider.

but then you try to narrow down the field with additional qualifications

They were definitely slaves in America. Was it as institutionally rampant as slavery? No. But their lives meant a lot less.

And that's the key point.

Here in this country, and I've yet to find it anywhere else in the world, being black has to be the worst thing that can ever happen to you. If I were competing against a Chinese person for a job, even with the same credentials, I inherently know they have a much better chance getting hired than me.

A third group who didn't have the same identifiers. It's not right to say other groups made it when they didn't have the same weight placed on their shoulders. It would only work if they had the same or worse conditions placed on them.

Yeah, there's no racism against black people in South Africa, Asian, or Europe.

but i think the majority of racial issues we have today, in america, are because we have institutionally rampant slavery followed up with institutionally rampant racism - which is still around today. i either live in a racist hell hole or a number of white people aren't being very forth coming with how whites talk about black people when they think no one who might disagree is listening (or in the grocery line, the water cooler..). seems like the majority of vj doesn't experience this sort of thing on a daily basis.

For the sake of my clarity, are you saying that Black people have endured 400 years of slavery IN AMERICA...or anywhere? 2015 - 400 = 1615.

Been to two of the 3 countries above. Yep, it's there alright.

The first 19 or so Africans to reach the English colonies arrived in Jamestown, Virginia in 1619.

I was off by 4 years, thanks for the catch.
