Hello everyone,

has anyone ran into an issue if the police report isn't in a sealed envelope? On the NVC docs page it doesn't say anything about it being sealed, but in doing some research there were a few posts of people who were told by NVC it needed to be sealed.

we have the police report and right now its sealed, so I can send either way, but want to make sure its the way NVC wants

Thanks in advance.

We are K1 so ours doesn't go to NVC, rather just the consulate, but for us our police certificate was not sealed and that was fine. Also, since it is all in another language it had to be taken to a certified translator to be translated into English. I can't tell you what the NVC requires, but possibly if your certificate is in a language other than English you'd have to get it translated, like we did for the embassy.

Likely this is country specific. My police report wasn't sealed, it was a single sheet of paper. But in some countries it is, and in others it's sent directly to the embassy vs given to the applicant.

If you choose you can report your thread to have it moved to a regionally specific forum where you can get specific answers for your embassy or consulate.

Checking NVC's website for information and country specific requirements is always a good idea. When looking for Ho Cho Minh City, if that's where you're having your interview, it doesn't say anything about the police cert having to be sealed. Here's a link:
