oday is the birthday of two of Seattle's icons: Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Lee.

Hendrix, of course, was from here, got his first guitar here and was buried here after he died in London in 1970.

He's also remembered with a statue on Seattle's Capitol Hill.

The January 1997 photo caption read: A life-size Jimi Hendrix statue was unveiled in front of AEI Music on Broadway on Capitol Hill. Standing next to the statue is Jimi's dad Al Hendrix and on his left is Jimi sister, Jamie Hendrix. The bronze statue of Jimi with his infamous Stratocater was created by Seattle sculptor Daryl Smith.

Lee was born in San Francisco and lived in Hong Kong. He moved to Seattle, enrolled at the University of Washington and opened a martial arts studio here. He also met and married his wife here.

He also was buried in the Seattle area. His grave has become something of a memorial to his fans.

Bruce Lee and his actor son Brandon Bruce Lee are buried at Lakeview Cemetery, Seattle

Bruce Lee would have turned 75 today. Jimi Hendrix would have been 73.

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.
