Hi VJ members,

I have few questions regarding my approved NOA2. Until now my fiance hasnt receive the hardcopy. He already talked today to one of the customer agent from USCIS and they advised him to submit FORM I-184 which is $405 ? they cannot even track when they mailed the approved NOA2 To my fiance! I have been reading and researching regarding it and some says it is required before you go for interview at US EMBASSY, some says the original noa2 is important for AOS and also it is required to submit to US Immigration officer when I travel to US. I am quite confused as I do not understand why approved NOA2 is really important even if the NVC letter can prove that our petition is approved as it is indicated in the letter. Anyone of you encounter this issue? My questions are:

1. Do we really need to pay $405 just to get another cooy of NOA2 To be sent to my fiance? What if it get lost again, definitely USCIS would advise again to submit form I-184!

2. Do u think, I will have mo problem when I apply for AOS without submitting NOA2?

3. Is this really required at POE?

4. Do we really need to worry about not having the noa2 hardcopy?

I appreciate if anyone can give me an advise & feedback based on their experience.

2. Do u think, I will have mo problem when I apply for AOS without submitting NOA2? The NOA2 is a requirement for the AOS after your married. Until then it's not needed so don't panic. It is not even required at the USEM visa interview.

3. Is this really required at POE? The immigration officer is only going to take your visa packet and stamp your passport. From there he doesn't care.

4. Do we really need to worry about not having the noa2 hardcopy? Like I stated above, not till you submit your AOS paperwork after marriage should you be concerned. Lots of time between now and then to chase that document.

I appreciate if anyone can give me an advise & feedback based on their experience.

That is just the expiration date for modifications to be made by USCIS employees. Even if a new version of the form is made available, they will still accept the previous versions. So you are safe.

Based on that link, the information on the NOA2 is required, but can be supplemented with the K-1 Visa located in the Passport. Ultimately what you can do if you're concerned with paying the $405 to file for a new NOA2 is to continue on as planned. Arrive, get married, file for AOS. If they won't accept the Information from the K-1 Visa, then you will get an RFE and will need to pay the $405 and request a new NOA2 to be mailed.

I thought once case is in the embassy, the only thing you do is just scheduling interview and bringing all the documents there.

Every Embassy is different, some have a Packet 3 (Interview scheduling requirements), followed by a packet 4 (Post Scheduling, Pre-Interview requirements)

After a quick google search, several sites reported the same information. Once the Embassy in Moscow receives your information from the NVC they begin the initial process, background checks, ect.. which takes about 2 weeks give or take a few days. They will then schedule the interview for you, and send you information with instructions on what to do next.

I guess you could call it a packet 4 (post scheduling / pre-interview requirements).

Thanks for reply!!! Ohhh I see!!! well our case status is "ready" now..I guess I can already fill out DS-160? ... and I searched some info too and seems like that the embassy will ask to send them scanned documents and than let to schedule interview....
