Hello,

while waiting for NOA2, I've got a few questions regarding the next steps (I am the beneficiary):

1. How recent does the documentation (bank, employer) for the affidavit of support have to be? Does it make sense to get it now, even before NOA2? Yes you can begin to gather those documents but be as current as possible to your interview date. Some documents are time sensitive but that is determined by the Embassy.

2. I have studied abroad in France (7 months) back in 2006, but as far as I know I was still registered in Germany during that time. Will I need a police certificate from France for my application? If you spent more than 6 months in another country you must submit a PC for time spent in that country. http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html

3. I have worked/lived in the US from 2011-2013 (H1B visa). On the info page from the Frankfurt Consulate.. it says "Present and former residents of the U.S. should not obtain a police certificate covering their residence in the United States." Do I understand it correctly that I do not need a police certificate for this time, because they are checking this anyways? A PC for time spent in the US is not necessary. http://usvisa.com/policecertificates.shtml

4. It also says "Please note that a police certificate with an entry must be accompanied by a certified English translation". Does this in turn mean that police certificates without any entries can be presented in German? All documents must be translated to English.

Always check your Embassy's website for further requirements and processes. You may also find answers to these types of questions from your sub-forum here on VJ. Good people can be found there that know the process and can help you avoid the "gotchas" which cause RFE's.

Thank you for your help!

Hi guys!

I need your input about a matter. My fiance (I am the beneficiary) sent our file and it has been received on Dec 20. The next day he realized that he forgot to enclose the check :s and ever since we have no news. Do you think it is normal that it takes that long for them to send us back the package. What should we do? Call USCIS? send another package or just wait for the package.

Thanks for your feedback guys! I just want to start the process ASAP!

If they sent it back, you should've gotten it back by now. I would email lockbox support and ask.

But it takes about a week to 10 days to hear back even from them.

I would start preparing a brand new petition just in case. They LOST my first petition but I was prepared and had already made an entire second petition and had it ready to go as soon as I had gotten the news.

Thanks a lot for your quick answer! I will do that. Where can I find the lockbox email?

Hi all :-)

I hope someone can give me some advice,. We sent our pack to the Texas lockbox on 17th December and still haven't had any email/ text confirmation. I wouldn't normally be worried but I'm reading on here so many people have had there receipt with the case number on.

Should I be worried?

You've gotten nothing? At all? Was it confirmed delivery as in signed for by someone there?

I would be concerned and write an email to lockbox support and have them look around.

They did lose mine so it IS possible. I had to resend an entire new petition.
