Hi all,

I am a Canadian citizen who recently got my US green card via Adjustment of Status (EB-2 category). I was previously in the US on a TN status.

Prior to my green card being issued, I married my Canadian spouse and have applied for him to follow-to-join me to come live with me in the US. The I-824 was approved very quickly (~3 weeks) and our case was completed at NVC on October 28, 2015.

It has now been almost a full month and we still haven't heard anything regarding interview dates. I see many people on the forum in the IR-1/CR-1 category already got their dates who have NVC completed dates around the same time as ours. I phoned NVC earlier this week and they told me they are "waiting for an E2 interview date to become available in Montreal".

Does anybody have an idea of how long it takes them to schedule an EB-2 interview in Montreal? Do IR-1/CR-1 interviews get scheduled faster, as it seems?

We've been living apart for over 3 years now and it's really killing us. We had been hoping to spend Christmas together this year but our hope of that is now rapidly fading... Any insight is appreciated.

I can say definitively that IR1 do get scheduled faster than other immigrant visa types in Montreal. There have always been several posts a year about K1 complaining that there are no open interviews for them there but IR1/CR1 are still getting dates generally.

This site really mostly has IR1 or K1 type applicants and I had to look up what an EB2 visa is. (we recently had an EB3 visa go through on the forums though.)

Is there a reason why your spouse couldn't come down to visit for Christmas?

You applied for him as the Spouse of LPR? Not sure why you both did not go the EB2 route and why he did not have a TD?

What date did your husband finally have his interview? I'm not from Canada but am also on an EB2 petition being consular processed and its frustrating watching other visa categories getting filled up a lot earlier than mine.

OP has not been on here for many months.

The interview was Jan 14th. Here was the approximate timeline:

Case Completed at NVC - End of October

Interview Date Assigned - 1st week of December

Interview - Jan 14th

Passport Delivered w/ Visa - Jan 18th

POE (Port Huron) - Jan 23

Anyone else have any timelines for EB(employment based) visas consular processing interviews? My case is nearing the point where NVC will receive it and send to Montreal. Just curious how long I will have to wait for an interview. Based on case above, it looks like possibly within a couple of months? Any other timelines from other people who have done EB-1,EB-2, EB-3 consular processing in Canada would be greatly appreciated!
