Tampa Fl filipino area

Hi all, is anyone here familiar with Tampa, FL? If so, we're looking for the area where filipinos live. I've heard that Brandon has lots of filipinos. My wife is looking for work and something familiar from her home country. She needs some local filipino contacts, but we don't know where to look. We're not looking for filipino grocery stores or restaurants. Just someplace so she won't feel cut off from the Philippines. Thank you very much.

I live in Tampa and I actually work with someone married to a woman from the Philippines. I will ask them at work tomorrow if they know any good information that you are requesting and I will get back to you. I will try and get specifics to areas within Brandon and Tampa since there are so many little areas within each!

Okay so I got some good information for you. The information I got is not within the Brandon area but in the greater Tampa area in an area called Carrollwood and Westchase (these are names given to the housing development areas). There is a large group of people from the Phillipines in both of these areas.

Below is a link to the website for a Center for Filipinos where they often have events on a monthly basis that you can attend and meet others.

There is a Filipino Grocery relatively nearby to the center its address is 13934 W Hillsborough Ave, Tampa, FL 33635. It is about 15 mins or so away from the center with no heavy traffic. The name of the grocery store is Philippine Grocery. It's basically located at the corner of Racetrack Rd and Hillsborough Ave.

Let me know if you need more specifics or would like me to reach out to coworkers I know that live in Brandon, but don't necessarily have the Filipino connection if that is where you would rather find info.

OP, my husband and I are considering moving to Tampa once I immigrate. How did your wife feel about the move to Tampa? Is it an easy place to move around and find new people? What does she think about looking for jobs there, are they open to people with foreign experience and no US experience? Would love to hear your wife's experience.

My husband had a relatively easy time finding a job. Took about two months. Only had one employer that didn't seem to know what the EAD was, and didn't want to hire him.

He complains about the traffic and the drivers.

He's still getting used to the weather being warm in December, but likes not having to shovel snow. His co-workers have been very receptive to him, and there's plenty to do, which makes it easy, imo, to meet people.
