Expiration of EAD

Just a quick question. My fiancee came to the U.S. on a KI visa and she is applying for her EAD and AOS at the same time. Once she receives her EAD, how long is it valid for? Thanks

It will be valid for 12 months....by which time she will hopefully have a green card.

Do read the instructions on the EAD filing form though. It will tell you when to apply again if you haven't received your green card. My husband is having to reapply in the next couple weeks since he hasn't received approval yet. The instructions tell you that you will need to reapply within six months of your EAD expiry. Rather irritating, but a necessity.

Thanks for the advice. What would really stink though is if you apply for a renewal EAD 6 months in advance, then you get your greencard after you reapply. Then you would have applied for nothing I guess. Does it cost the same to renew your EAD? Thanks

Yes it costs the same to re-file.

The USCIS has procedural memos that advise filing 100 days in advance of expiration.
